Default What's the best form of exercise?

Hey there,

My name is Jake and Im 15 years old, 16 in about a month. I lead a moderately healthy lifestyle: I try and do at least 4 hours of exercise a week and restrain myself from stuffing my face with crisps and chocolate. Most of the time it goes to plan; sometimes not so much.

Every Friday, sometimes Monday I go to Judo (martial arts) for an hour and on the weekends, I go for a bike ride usually around 20 miles. However, only recently, I have begun to notice that my friends are in much better shape than me. My stamina is completely depleted by the end of the classes. I want to be able to keep up with everyone else, but also, of course, when I look in the mirror I don't want to feel content instead of self-critical.

This is mainly because in the time that I'm not doing exercise I'm sitting down - well, most of the time laying watching movies or hanging out with friends playing video games. On the off chance that my friends and I go out, we often just browse shops or watch more movies at the cinema.

Where I live has pretty much everything: a local pool, a gym, beautiful scenery for runs and cycling. I am surrounded by opportunities but I have no clue which to choose, so I could use some help in that respect.

Also which time would be best? I'm occupied with school work from roughly 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, so theoretically I could get up in the morning.

I would appreciate any responses.

Thanks,
Jake.

If you have access to a gym that would be the best place to go as you can do cardio and weights. The best time to go would be early in the morning on Sunday.

Morning jogs can really pay off.... if you are self disciplined enough. I found that having a buddy really helped me, holding each other accountable to dragging our lazy butts outta bed, pushing each other once we are out there and so on. xD

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Running and swimming are the best all around body movers without needing a lot of money or weights

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move..........Dont Panic!

The best form of exercise is one that you will actually do on a regular basis.

What about just walking. Right? Just walk daily. I mean I walk most of the time if trip to where ever I go is 3 miles or less. Swimming is also good but again you have to eat properly which means protein which mean forget bunnyfood.

Swimming is definitely good for the whole body, and cheap. Many sports strain only parts of the body. But you can do several different sports too.

Overall, I think running on its own is the best of all.
