Default Cigarettes versus Weed

Any underaged cigarette-smokers present here ? Is my feeling correct that smoking cigarettes is a "not-done" these days while smoking weed is "in" and popular ?

I do smoking cigs but I don't like weed (just tried it once)

I don't want to try either. However, if I was under circumstances which forced to choose, I'd pick ordinary cigarettes, since my lungs would be fucked either way, but at least my mind would still be intact.

Michael Corleone in "The Godfather - Part III" is pretty much Tony Montana who got older, less angry, sobered up and lost the accent.

But one day when home alone (14yo at that moment), for some reason (I really don't know why) I took a cigarette (mom let her pack on the table) and light up . It felt great and during almost a year I smoked secretly now and then . One day a schoolfriend saw me smoking and that was the start ,I began to do it openly with friends .My mom discovered it when finding a lighter and a cig in my jacket, I had a sermon but was allowed to smoke,so now I'm just a regular smoker . I'm not proud of it and I know the health-risks,but I like cigarettes, sorry . But I think I'll never go for other drugs,I once tried a puff of weed with a friend but didn't like it at all

I don't smoke either. Both are bad for your lungs. Vaping either or eating weed in brownies is preferable. Weed is better than cigarettes though. Nicotine (in cigarettes) is way more addictive than cannabis - especially since habitual smokers tend to smoke more in a day. Nicotine is up there with Cocaine in addictiveness. Weed is significantly less addictive - though it is still moderately addictive.

I think this is basically right, at least in the USA. I think smoking is more accepted in France, though from what i understand, it's somewhat going out of style.

Smoke in general sucks so I prefer steam (bongs) or just edibles. That said, cigarettes also contain traces of tar which are equally harmful to the lungs as well as the very addictive nicotine. THC is also known to be addictive but nicotine is more chemically potent

Cigarettes are by far more unhealthy. With weed...there's so many different ways you can intake it these days, vaping, cannabis oils, edibles, etc...that make it not as unhealthy as smoking joints, pipes or bongs.

Lightbulb Re: Cigarettes versus Weed

I grew up in a household with smokers, all of which now vape. A friend of ours had come over who smoked, and I felt the urge to try smoking, so I sneaked a few of them. So, while nobody was home I lit up. It was kind of an odd experience, but it felt great at the same time. I still occasionally smoke, but not very often. Strangely enough though, I don't really like vapes, there's just something about them.

Part of it for me I think is the nostalgia. It reminds me of being kind of a care free kid.

I've never actually tried weed before. I'm kind of afraid that people would find out about it too easy, for now anyway. I think I would be good with trying it in the future though.

Smoking has been in decline in developed countries for decades. Cigarette companies have mainly been seeing growth in selling to developing nations as they become wealthier.

This is how it went for me. My parents had always been smoking and I used to be very anti... until I got some older friends who smoked. I gave it a try and well wasn't that bad. In fact I liked it, started sneaking cigs from my parents until they found out. But they were quite laid back and let me smoke. I'm also not proud of it but I also admit I like smoking and for now have no intention to quit.

It has to some extent, but France has been a holdout on giving up cigarettes.
It has been declining there, but no as much as elsewhere.
In fact, we had some foreign exchange students here from France a few years ago and they snidely commented on how Americans were 'obsessed' with not smoking, as they were puffing away on their coffin nails .

I don't smoke either. I know one person at school who smokes cigarettes but several that smoke weed. Vaping is really popular at school, always see several people vaping between classes.

I think those benefits are mainly for people with minor pain and certain conditions rather than just the average smoker. What really kills people is the smoking part - cigarettes will kill someone faster than smoking weed. Vapour is much healthier on the lungs. I believe weed brownies are also okay and stuff like dipping tobacco is also way less damaging than smoking (it is quite gross though). The big difference there becomes that Nicotine is far more addictive and harder to stop and weed is more something you don't want to take before doing something like driving.

That's if they're both legal though. Weed is (wrongly IMO) illegal in many countries which adds extra danger and expense to it.
