Default New Posts Search

I don't know if anyone else has experienced or noticed this. But when I've searched for new posts, any threads where I am the last person to reply don't show up. They do if I look for todays posts, just not new posts.

This is the only forum that I use that used to do that, all of the others don't show my posts, which is much better. Ben said he had changed the settings with new posts, it's no big deal and I think it's better anyway.

Yeah, the way threads are marked read has been changed.

Before, all threads (even ones you didn't read) would be automatically marked read once you logged off VT. Now, even if you log off, the next time you sign in, threads you didn't read since your last visit will still be marked unread until you actually read them. But it won't stay unread forever - once 7 days has passed, the threads you haven't read in the last 7 days will be marked read.

Unfortunately switching methods caused all threads in the past 7 days to be marked unread for everyone. But once a week has past, it will properly show the newest posts.

Hmmm honestly I like being able to go back and re read my post, and others after I already clicked away without having to go forum searching.
Could it become a user detail preference?

I guess I'll go sit in my 'I liked it before' corner and cry.

Lol

May I suggest that you simply take a moment to reread your posts after you post them instead of using the resource-costing search feature? ._.

I think that this is actually a side effect of an option that immediately updates the 'read' status of a thread. Before, we couldn't have thread views update immediately because it's server intensive.

It could be a side effect of both this option and the database marking option combined.

If you would like to reset the 'read' status of every post in the forum, you can very easily. If you don't do this (or actually read every single post), it's likely that you will not be able to correctly identify which forum has a new post that you care about. To do this, follow the link below:
