Default Thanksgiving

I know this is a global community, and thanksgiving is only an American holiday, but its a really fun holiday. I think its become my favorite over the last couple years.

If youre unfamiliar with thanksgiving, feel free to post your questions, either me or someone will answer them for you

But anyways, what are yiur thanksgiving plans?
Are you staying home, having people over, traveling somewhere?
Who will you spend it with?
What will you do with the long weekend?

The best part of this holiday is a longggggggg weekend

Traditionally, we go mountain biking on Thanksgiving Day (because no one else does).
This year, not so sure of that. We might go biking the beach bike-path. Or something less up-and-down-and-rough than the mountains. But maybe the mountains.

I hope to spend the rest of the weekend getting sun. And perhaps a beach somewhere if it is hot.

We have just been travelling, so this long weekend will be home. With my brother and mum, which is perfect.

Oh Jaffe I agree, the long weekend. We will have our family over along with my bf and his family this year. It is our first Thanksgiving together and I really look forward to it. Of course we will be plastered to the TV during the games but will help our mothers with the cooking (at least I will, not sure about my bf).....

I am a twin, 18 -- gay and proud. Would love to talk to all you guys in here. Very open to discuss things and like to talk to new friends.

We spend the mornings watching the parade on TV usually Thanksgiving day were going over to my dads friends house to have dinner. I have some depressing memories of thanksgiving actually because of stuff haha but I think this year it won’t be so bad. Then the next day, on Friday I’m gonna go ice skate with a friend of mine I haven’t seen in a long time, then gonna go eat ramen So it’s gonna be a very family/friend oriented Thanksgiving, as it should be. Probably gonna FaceTime my mom too cuz I miss her!

Friday I have to get up early to work for Black Friday. after I get out of working going to spend time with this girl I really like and think I am close to being in a committed relationship with

Saturday going to the Michigan game (got student season tickets. yes I think we will lose but I am still going). the rest of the weekend will be left overs (did I mention pie? I love pie!)football, and hanging out with people

Canada also celebrates Thanksgiving but theirs is in October. My favorite things are the food, seeing family, and putting up the Christmas tree.

We don't really celebrate Thanksgiving. Sometimes one of my grandmas make a larger dinner or I get invited for dinner from friends. That's about it.

We always have Thanksgiving at my house, it's usually just my parents, myself and my Nana. If Nana can't come for whatever reason, it's usually myself and my parents. Sometimes my other grandmother shows up. I'm hoping to be working Black Friday and that weekend, so I'll be focusing more on that than the holiday itself.

We have a big family dinner at my aunt and uncle's house for Thanksgiving. There'll be lots of cousins and tons of food to eat. The rest of the weekend will be basketball practice and hanging out with my boyfriend and other friends. But it will be an awesome 5 days away from school, at least classes.

Its an American holiday, and tradition. It goes back to the year after the pilgrims settled in the USA. The Indians knew a lot about the weather, and the pilgrims knew nothing, so the Indians helped the pilgrims through that first hard winter, and taught them about getting ready for the next winter in the spring. Teaching them how to use the land in the difficult New England weather they were not use to

So on that forth thanksgiving (a year after the pilgrims arrived, they all had a big feast together, being thankful to the Indians who helped and aided them when they needed it, and got them through that first year. If the Indians had not, most of the pilgrims would have died.

So since then, we have the same holiday, in remeberance of this, and to be thankful for what we do have. Spend time with friends, and family, sharing the bounties of our past year, together.

Its basically just about getting together with family and friends eat a lot of food and watch football

A lot of people here decorate their tree the night of Thanksgiving. Just kinda a custom.

In 1683 pilgrims and Natives celebrated for the first time. It was declared a holiday by Abraham Lincoln in 1863.
