Default Self harm and Short Sleeves

I self harm (long story) and I have a karate grading coming up. My teacher is my dad's friend so if he sees my fresh cuts he'll tell my dad. My uniform does not allow me to cover them and now I think I should not have relapsed. I went nearly two weeks without self harming then I disappointed my dad and he got mad at me so I relapsed. This is the worst I've even cut and it hurts really bad but it feels so good. What do I do?

I'm not very knowledgeable on the topic, but possibly try make up/foundation? Try using that and some concealer. If you don't have it already, you can buy some cheapo one which matches your skin tone at a Kmart or Target (I see you live in Australia) for less than $5.

Putting make up on cuts can increase the likelihood of getting an infection. Why don't you wear a thermal or something underneath your clothing? Other options are tell the truth or quit karate. Self harm is one of these things which limits what you can do.

Well I went to the shops and bought some concealer. My cuts were closed by then, so it was okay. I cut myself a little on the hand to make it look like a cat scratch and asked the lady if it would be okay if it was closed. She said so, so it bought it. It worked too! (I don't recommend putting since it's very addictive)

I’m sorry to hear you have that problem

Try not to use the concealer as an excuse to keep cutting, though. As you said, it’s very addictive and finding excuses for doing it is just going to reinforce the addictive behaviour. As said before, don’t attempt to apply any concealer or foundation of the wounds are open, it’ll infect and won’t really stick very well anyways. You’re better off bandaging it up so it heals better.

I'm glad things worked out for you. I wish for the best for you and I hope that you'll be able to stop self harming. I know you can because I'm sure you're a really strong willed person

Thanks. I tried, but I relapse every time someone raises their voice at me even slightly. I kind of wish my family understood. They never use the words ‘depression’ or ‘suicide’ around me. Now I cringe visibly whenever I hear the words and it’s torture.
