Question (TRIGGER WARNING) where are 'safe' places to cut

Hello, i'm edgar

I started to cut around 3 weeks ago now. I cut on the top of my left forearm, where there are no veins and stuff, but when I cut, really few blood flows and it is really frustrating . So my question is, where are safe places to cut ? Where is it not too dangerous and you don't risk to lose the usage of any muscles, but somewhere the blood flows satisfactorily ?

Thank you for your help, I do not mean any harm to anyone, this is all about being safe, pls dont delete

Edgar

All we are is dust in the wind

What is making you cut yourself? Why? Let's address that first.

You have come to the right place. VT is perfect for talking to people.

I can see that you have low self-esteem. All the reasons above will be affecting you in school which is bad for your future. Think positively. Everyone has some good qualities about them. Every night before bed think of something that good that went well in your day.

Do you have any hobbies? Do you enjoy anything like a sport, reading, playing an instrument? Do what makes you happy. It will distract you and if you join a club you can make friends and develop your social skills.

I'm not really an expert but i hope that helped. My main point would be is to think positive and do what makes you happy.

Thank you InternetTeen, but it's not really the point , As I said, I don't have any talents, and cutting really helps me to feel better at least for a moment . I don't think cutting is bad, it can be addictive though...

Don't let something that makes you feel good "for a moment" become an addiction and a regularity. I understand - it does make you feel better temporarily, but what happens when the relief afterward goes away? It's not worth the guilt and regret. I remember replying to another thread you made, I believe at that time you were only thinking about cutting and hadn't done it. Please, you're too precious to be inflicting harm on yourself. You simply can't remedy pain with more pain. It will not give a permanent solution to any of your problems. Look, I don't know you, but I know that you are a beautiful person who has a purpose. You have a future. Maybe you don't have a plan for it yet, but you can fill all the time ahead of you however you want. Don't worry about what your parents or peers think of you. As someone who always worries what people think, I know how tiring it is and how anxious it can make you. But if you always think about what will make them happy, you'll never be happy yourself. Give yourself time and things will balance out. VT can help with that, if you let it. Not just for your problems, either - it warms my heart to see when people progress and read updates on their lives: I promise you, you are so so loved, whether you feel it right now or not. I care about you, and I don't want you to keep falling down a hole that's incredibly hard to get out of.

Hello phoshene, thank you for replying, but I know that I want to cut, I know the consequences, but it is my only way to cope right now. I just want to know how to stay safe

Cutting is a really bad route to go. If you must cut, a safer place to do it is the thigh, right underneath your underwear. Please don't cut your arms, some reasons being that it's easy to see there and you'll regret when you're better. I would suggest looking into DBT, dialectical behavior therapy, so you can replace cutting with something healthier. DBT saved my life, and it will help save yours if you use the skills.

Hi ShaytheStar, thank you for your answer, I never thought of doing it anywhere else that the arm, but the thigh seems like a good place, I don't think i'll try to therapy, I don't want my parents to know about my cutting

do NOT cut on the thigh. There are massive arteries there and you could bleed out. try your hand if you must (not your wrist), but look for psychological support resources in your area as well. it gets better

Hey guys it's been a long ass time I haven't got on there, I stopped cutting like two month after i started, I realize now it's so fucking stupid. Now when I feel sad I just call my new friends or play music.

Art, music, meditation/prayer are all good options to exercise as an alternative to cutting. Congratulations on pushing through!

I don't think you know what are arteries and where are they in a human body...

Just don't cut your hands, or foot. It will hurt and bleed a lot.

There really are no safe places to cut. But if you feel like you really need to, you could try your thigh.
