Default Bingeing & Vegetarianism.

Do you think eating a vegetarian diet could help with binge eating disorder?

Would it be a healthier way to try and change?

Or is it an unreal expectation with complete opposite results?

I feel stuck. I really would appreciate any advice esp. w/ binge eating disorder in general. Most people on here don't reply to binge topics but I honestly would appreciate any and all advice.

I don't think it would, personally, because it's just as easy to binge as a vegetarian.
For example, if your binges usually include sweets like chocolate bars and doughnuts, well, you could still eat those and be a vegetarian. I'm a vegetarian, and trust me, even if you binge on hamburgers and fries, there are still alternatives.

For example, Morningstar makes microwavable veggie burgers/chik'n patties/chik'n nuggets that are very good, but are soy instead of meat. You could binge on those and still be a vegetarian, and they only take about two minutes to cook.

So, going vegetarian, or even vegan, wouldn't help you much. What you need to do is try to get help for your ED. I have never suffered from BED, but Ana/Mia, so I can't be much help. Tumblr, however, has a lot of people who have and would be willing to help. You can also Google the topic or call local clinics who deal with these types of things.

Once you get better, however, and feel like you can do it, going vegetarian is a wonderful idea. It's very simple, fairly inexpensive, and CAN BE very healthy for you.

I agree with what was said above. I mean theoretically, it might help, but the likelyhood is you'll just find new binge foods. Or if you binge on foods that a vegetarian would eat currently, being a vegetarian won't help it. I wouldn't become vegetarian to not have BED anymore, you become vegetarian because it's what you believe in. I wouldn't say you'd get completely opposite results, but you likely wouldn't stop binging.

The best thing to do is to get help from a professional. That's how to get better. I know, easier said than done, but it's the truth.
