its a school site so itll be set up in such a way so only pupils can get on it
anyone can get on
and that includes perverts (though they are dealt with quickly here) it isnt the case everywhere and weighing up which forums would be safe would take to much time and be completely unnecesary

If my students spelled like you do, I'd ban them from the internets too.

first off its hypocrite..

Secondly I read somewhere that most schools have a website blocker or whatever to keep naughty children like yourself from watching pornos or doing anything that would be deemed unacceptable at school.

schools always have website blockers that block like 90% of websites. It's so that u don't screw around and do work.

Well, what would your teacher think if she caught you on virtual teen and she saw one of the Puberty and Psychiatric Ward section on here?
And don't try proxies, they'll get you in trouble if your teachers have that school view stuff and can see what your on. Listen, i know from experience.
Just go to school and work like your suppose to do. Leave VT at home.

I've used Moodle before, and part of the reason they would ban this kind of stuff is because Moodle is just for school-related stuff. It's not for shooting the breeze and playing forum games and whatnot. It's a way of keeping everyone in the loop and organizing things.

When I used it, it was because my school basically had an independent study type of format. All the work was done at home, and students came in to the school once per week to turn in homework, and whenever they needed to take tests or see a teacher for help, etc. Moodle was where I'd keep in touch with my teachers, and the forums were pretty much all related to class.

I can see why you might think its hypocritical to block chat sites in the forums where, of course, you chat with teachers and other students, but it's really not. They're blocking it because something like VT allows you to access chat with people outside the school system. Any links posted on the school's forum are assumed to be endorsed by the school, and it's better to just not link their students to virtual chat sites because it may not be safe. It also has nothing to do with school, in the first place.
Also, moodle isn't unmoderated, it just doesn't have moderators the way we do here. There should be someone at the school who sets up new accounts and makes sure that you're linked to all the right classes and such; they're the ones who know how to deal with the technical aspects of the program. It's not like no one has any control over anything that goes on there.

And, honestly, it's silly to complain. "Wow, my school won't let me link to VT on moodle because it has nothing to do with the whole purpose of moodle. What hypocrites, they won't let me use the school's set-up for anything other than school!" Come on. If you want to go on VT, you can, you just can't link to it on moodle.

Join the club. Ok. Every thing you school does will not appear smart.

BTW: my school gives us moderated email acccounts (gaggle.net) and they include some (unused) forums

Dude, school boards are hypocrites on principle. xD In my opinion, all school boards should be closed-down, all teachers fired and all schools burned to cinders.

Just my opinion, of course! xD *nods*

...even though school is where you learned to read and write, which is necessary for everyday life as well as for posting on this forum. Maybe you learned some of that at home with your parents or on your own, but school kinda helped. Even someone like me, who taught myself to read before I was fully potty trained and has an IQ of about 150, has learned plenty from going to school. I'm sure you have, too. Kids in less fortunate countries walk for miles, sometimes barefoot, to get to school every day and they're happy to have that opportunity. You don't realize how important school is and how lucky we are to even have a FREE public education system provided for us, as much as there may be flaws. So, complain about how the system is so corrupt and hypocritical (although if you read the situation in question here, I hope you would realize that there's really no hypocrisy going on), but school is actually helping you more than hurting you in the long run.
