I'm not too keen on this over reputation. One of the benefits of reputation is that it is built in the vBulletin system and it is guaranteed to work as new versions of vBulletin are released. Its also officially supported.

Third party modifications are good and we use them, but since we have a similar system that's built in, for convenience, its easier to use reputation. Its always better to use as little modifications as possible.

How about we have a poll in a separate topic, staff also have a separate poll. 1 staff vote = equivalent to 3 user votes.

Fair.

Many forums use this mod, the forum I go on recently upgraded to 3.8.1, they had no trouble at all with the mod, and they haven't done for the past 18 months or however long they've been using it.

It can be set to only be available in certain forums (P101, H&A and the Ward), that way it's not going to get abused by people thanking posts in TWPR etc.

Fair.
VT is not a democracy nor is fair. I don't mean that in such a negative way, but while we do take into account member's voice with polls and such, something isn't going to happen unless the staff agrees to it.

vBulletin 4 does come out later this year though and its guaranteed to break all modifications. What if suddenly the author of the thanks mod is unwilling or unable to update it? Either we are stuck using 3.8.x or vBulletin 4 is upgraded without the modification and everyone thanks points are lost.

Like I said its much easier to use reputation since its built into the system.

And its hella lot harder to delete an addon than install it.
Especially if it malfunctions in an upgrade.
