Default Sexual Identity

Alright, so a few years ago I started to question if I was asexual. I did some research on it but just came to the conclusion I was looking to jump onto the LGBT train. Anyway, I recently got into my first relationship after a long time of being single and the question of me being asexual has resurfaced. I've done more research and read articles and forums of asexuality, and now I'm just confused. I genuinely believe I'm asexual, but I don't know if I'm asexual enough to label myself as that. I just want closure I guess, and I don't know how to get it.

I will cry for attention

I know that a lot of people struggle with “labels” when it comes to sexual identity and especially when it’s on the appropriately named “LGBT train”

As I can see, you’ve done your research into it, which is good but some different sites can cross over and contradict themselves in terms of definitions concerning sexual identity: one sites aromantic is another sites asexual. I remember doing the same and it just made me more stressed out and confused.

All I can suggest is try to ditch the label. I know it’s hard, it’s human nature to label and categorise things, but it can make you feel so much more at ease with yourself and makes you feel more “in tune” with your mind. You shouldn’t have to feel the need to justify yourself to others, and it takes time to accept.

Dependent on how you look at it, I'd agree with Nebula. However, I also don't disagree with using labels, they are useful tools to help us compartmentalize things. If you really need to, label it, if you don't, try to move on.

Just don't be worried for now and you will eventually know your true sexuality in time.

I am gay and happy with that.
I love talking to people very open & willing to listen.
I am also glad to try help with questions or problems.
Hit me up for anything. I promise I don't bite.
