Default Suicide Hotline Advice?

If someone were to call a suicide hotline, what should they say? Does anyone have experience with this? If so, how was it handled?

They would talk to you, problem solve, make sure you are safe, and give you a place to talk about what's been going on. (I worked for one for a couple years--it's a great resource and please do call!)

What they do is talk with you and give you a chance to vent and really talk about your feelings. I'm not trying to invade your life or anything, but if the 'someone' is you, please do give them a call. You can PM me too if you want.

If this is you or a close friend a suicide hotline can be the difference between life and death. They let you vent your frustrations and listen to your problems and will give you advice on things and where you can turn to or go for help. If it's you or a friend make sure to get help. Like I always tell people. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. This is the real truth. Tomorrows will be better. Really.

I am gay and happy with that.
I love talking to people very open & willing to listen.
I am also glad to try help with questions or problems.
Hit me up for anything. I promise I don't bite.

There is no script or guideline as to what you should say when you call them. The whole point of a suicide hotline is that you get to say what bothers you. If they want/need to know more, they will ask. They won't ask you for names, addresses, telephone numbers or other identifying information. You can even give a fake name if you like. They just need to know what exactly is bothering you so they can give good advice.
Even the conversation alone may help already. But they can give you contact information of other institutions that can help too. And they have a ton of good advice from all the experience they have.
They can and will help. Do not hesitate to call them! They exist for a reason!

I'm les, feel free to contact me

You can also text 741-741 as well, I've had some night where I've considered it. Texting might be easier, and they're trained to listen and understand, there's nothing you or anyone else needs to say or do in particular with the counselors.

They just listen and let you get all your feelings out then maybe list some ways that could make you feel better and what might help you. It's a great resource no judgement at all

17 and Bi. Hopefully i answered your question! I love helping everyone with their questions and problems so feel free to message me if you need to talk!
