Default I almost lost my dad last night

Massive heart attack. He survived and is doing OK as of now. Something like this has always been a looming threat since he has high blood pressure and a family history of heart problems but nothing could've prepared us for it actually happening. He was on his way home but was running late. We didn't find out what happened until a paramedic called us. I'll never forget that feeling of total despair before we learned that he was still alive. The face of my mother who was about to pass out from a panic attack. That feeling of regret since I didn't even tell him bye when he left the house. Words cannot express how relieved I am knowing that I can tell him I love him.

I can imagine what a horrible feeling this must have been. I'm glad your Dad survived.
Hopefully he will look after him self better and see this as a warning and you have many happy years ahead of you together.

@Lynxnl005,

Always be thankful and remember this event in order to be thankful to have him alive. People will die in our lives, but if we always remember to relish the time that we have with them while realizing that they won't be here forever, then we can both minimize the pain we feel from their actual death and learn to truly enjoy and appreciate them as people while they are alive.

Now, you have him here. He's really there. Go see him and spend time with him. Enjoy it. Remember the fragility of life, but enjoy it.

Hope this wasn't depressing or anything. I mean it in the most lighthearted way possible. Best of luck to you.

I know that feeling well. Iím sorry you feel that way now. I AM happy he seemed to make it and hopefully be ok. My dad wasnít so lucky, so just be with him as much as you can. Cause one day, sad as it might seem, you wonít be able to. And youíll always feel some kinda regret. Thatís just normal. And itíll get better as time goes on

Just take all the time you can with him now and forever, cause forever isnít forever

You and your family are very fortunate for him to have survived. Hopefully you will use this as a reason to make your feelings about him known. I hope he continues to recover well.

I'm so glad he's doing okay now, that must have been terrifying for you. I'd never try to speak over you or impose in such a hard time, but if you want to be proactive now might be a good time to look at healthier changes you can all make as a family to make sure you never have to go through something this hard again. Sending you good healing vibes <3
