Default nostalgia and drifting away

Hi guys, does anyone else have fears of growing up and drifting away from your friends?
I'm really emotional and sad about it right now because of it, not to mention a bunch of other circumstances lol but they're not relevant atm

I think drifting away from friends as you grow up is pretty normal. And I think it happens for a bunch of different reasons. When weíre young I donít think we can think like we do now and donít really care much about who we play with. But when we get older we change how we see things and have different opinions. Plus we move away for different reason. And we make new friends. Having the same friends all through school is kinda unusual I think. Itís good if you can cause it shows your good friends. But not uncommon
But can someone till be sad if you really like them. Can be a very sad feeling

We used to move so often that I'd to make new friends after each move. So, a friendship never lasted for more than two or three years. So, drifting away from friends never was an issue to me.

I'm sure as we get older and move thru
college-different jobs-neighbors-they will
come and go and anyone we have known
in the past will just become acquaintances.
The thing is to keep making new friends as
we get older. It doesn't mean that we have
to forget past relationships though.

I can't say that I have worried about friends. We all know that after high school our friends and classmates pursue their lives and go their own ways and directions. It is a natural event that we all go through. We will maintain friendships with many and loose track of others. That is just the way life is.

I am gay and happy with that.
I love talking to people very open & willing to listen.
I am also glad to try help with questions or problems.
Hit me up for anything. I promise I don't bite.

I have lost a lot of friends over the years. It is pretty normal and happen to everyone while growing up.
There are several reasons for it as the others said.
Sure it is sad, but for me, I feel like even if you aren't as close as you used to be maybe due to moving away etc. the real friends stay.

Yeah, I just remember childhood and primary school being awesome with friends. I probably didn't have the mindset now, where I block out all the fake people etc. and I was more open and fussy over who my friends were, but they were just simpler times. :p

David, those people who dropped you because of sexual orientation were not "friends". Real friends accept us as we are and without question/reservation. You are a person of worth (never, ever forget that) and deserve to be treated as such.

Yeah it does. Unfortunatly. But also tbh it sucks more for them cause they lost a true friend. Your feeling the pain from something they caused and dropped you for who you are. Youndidnt drop them for who they are
So itís their loss
Youíll make new friends, friends who will walk beside you and not behind you throwing stones at you
You donít need friends like that bro....you can run with me, Iím good people
And youíll meet more
Trust that, just be yourself and peopleís will begin to see you for who you are

I agree, David, true friends will stick through no matter what. Keep your head up high!

But yeah, basically, childhood was so much simpler. Every day you woke up was an adventure, you were small so the garden looked massive and you stared in amazement of the cupboards in the kitchen you couldn't reach and the ceiling of your kindergarten classroom and hall. Time didn't fly away so fast... it was utter bliss. You played till the sun went down

Don't think of it as a fear. Think about it as reality. In your life people will come and go. Is it sad that your best friend now might not be your best friend in the future? Kind of. Is it sad that your next best friend might be right around the corner? No, it's more pleasant way of looking at the same problem.

I think it is just a part of life, the freinds that you are close to will stay with you and the ones who arent as close may drift away, but i would rather have 50 genuine friends rather than 500 not too important "friends"

I can cry just to the thought of losing my best friend, all the memories, damn.
We're too far in to just forget each other.

I've known this boy since the first grade, we've stuck together through all kinds of things. I'm sure about 80% of big moments in my life have been with him. Although we don't really express it often, we both have each other in a special place in our hearts.
