Im from Philippines and most of the people there get cut during puberty or before they turn 13. It's seen as rite of passage to manhood. This has been practiced ever since Islam arrived in country..

In my country its extremely rare. Only a few with their religion do that sort of thing. Personally I find cutting someone mutilation on a boy whom cant even choose for himself yet. The risk of bacteria is next to none if you just clean yourself.

It does not bother me wether I'm the only male in this planet who is circumcised or I'm the only one who is uncircumcised.

I follow politics closely and I have not heard of it in Canadian politics. Generally Conservatives take longer to adapt, which isn't always a bad thing, while Liberals and New Democrats are more progressive.

In the United States, routine infant circumcision started in the late 1800s as a way to curb masturbation, which back then was viewed as a cause for many horrific diseases. This mass hysteria towards masturbation continued until around the 1920s-1930s, when those theories were disproven. However, circumcision had become a major source of money for doctors, so they said that it was more hygienic to be circumcised, and the circumcision rate climbed to roughly 80% of newborn males by the 70s. When the cleanliness started to fall out of favor as the uncircumcised penis could be easily cleaned by simply retracting the foreskin (unless it was a little tight, which is true for the vast minority of men), the HIV/AIDS epidemic was taking hold, and doctors, backed by questionably-performed research out of Africa, said that circumcision was an effective method to preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS even while condom use is a much more effective, and much less permanent, method of preventing the spread of STDs. Still, the circumcision rate has been falling in the US to 45-60% of boys born now, depending on who you ask.

It has been started for thousands of years. In the 1800's it has been said to cure masturbation (Before people realized masturbation is normal and healthy). And people said hygiene was an issue (Instead, it is actually more difficult for girls to clean their privates rather than uncut boys do). And people said it prevents STDs (Condoms prevent STDs; amputation does not). And true that it may prevent UTIs, however it shouldn't occur if you wash at least once a day. And doctors in the US used to recommend circumcision, however today many people learned about the issues.

My name is Adrian, I am 13 years old, dunno if I am gay or str8 (I am probably more of straight). I am a geek, and I am proud of it. I love computers, and all kinds of nerdy technology.

America has the highest rate of non-religious circumcision in the world. It was promoted a lot in the 1920's; a lot of people thought that masturbation was bad, and Dr. John Kellogg (yes, the guy who invented cornflakes) started suggesting that circumcision might stop guys from doing it (that clearly didn't work). Basically, an entire generation was circumcised, and so parents kept doing it because they assumed it was natural, since they were circumcised too.

Cut is pretty common in America. But I think it's becoming a little less common than it was.
