Default Storytelling

I often see comments or entire threads being locked or completely removed because they either promote or contain 'storytelling'. Firstly, what is considered storytelling? I see many posts which contain, to me, lots of storytelling, yet these thread aren't shut down - what makes one thing storytelling and another not?

Additionally, what is wrong with storytelling in the first place? Surely on a site largely dedicated to puberty, people should be able to share their experiences in a detailed manner?

EDIT : Just to clear some confusion - I don't support storytelling. Thanks.

A Salad made out of babies, or a baby made out of salad? Whichever floats your boat.

"Storytelling" is exactly what it sounds like. Any retelling or detailed explanation of something sexual and/or inappropriate. It isn't allowed on the site because it's unnecessary and inapposite for teenagers and young adults on this site (especially the younger teens). The site isn't here for people to come on and try to share their "erotic stories" (if I can even call it that. Some are just downright disgusting).

Then again maybe an H&A moderator or a higher staff member will have a better definition.

I've never been staff, but I've been here a while, and this is a pretty good explanation.

The staff works on making this as kid-friendly and safe of a place as possible, and it's just... Not ok to brag about your sexcapades. There are places for that, I'm sure, but that is so far removed from what this site is intended for. This isn't an adult site.

VT isn't a site to be used for sharing detailed sexual experiences or erotica. It isn't at all just dedicated to puberty, it's a teen help site with many other different aspects, not just puberty.

If you have any questions regarding the locking/deleting of things just PM a staff member, we're all happy to discuss your concerns with you

Basically what Mars and Ren have said - the main point is that Virtual Teen is a Help and Advice forum, and not an adult entertainment website. We don't allow inappropriate conversations, blatant sexchat, or attempts at hooking up. We do have Puberty forums, and we realize that sex does come up and it's part of life....but we do draw a line when it comes to what is actually puberty related (growth, development, etc) and using the forum for inappropriate reasons.

I'd think it would make VT a legal target for pissed-off parents who happened to find their kid's account and posts on here. websites don't exist in some ethereal realm beyond the scope of our comprehension, you know. VT manifestly lives on a hard drive somewhere in the United States as surely as your 300GB porn collection resides on yours, and this server has @ImCoolBeans' irl name and dox on it. would you feel comfortable as the owner being held liable for kiddos using it to get into all sorts of sticky situations both online and off? (no)

sorry to be such a regressive Hitlerian killjoy but even here in the current year there are standards to abide by. "I fapped and liked it" very quickly turns into X-rated Chris Hansen territory and I really don't think you understand how serious it can get

I'm not a mod, but as a general poster and frequent advice giver I stay away from any detail that is graphic in nature and holds no moral value in imparting any lesson or moral to a poster, respondent, or the OP.

There is no need for what I call "stroke stories or erotica" but if say for example "relationships and dating" section someone needs counsel or advice due to peer pressure to have or do sexual things from their partner, or if someone experienced something really graphic (abuse) and needs to know they aren't alone or what to do next to get help, I mean use common sense.

There's obviously a difference between those asking for help, and those posting something sexually graphic because they think it's funny or they're trying to get off and make a sub-community of hot-n-bothered people.

If a mod disagrees with how see this rule and it's boundaries I haven't been contacted or warned.

One piece of advice I have offered that is somewhat sexually graphic is don't go on a date, eat something with spice oils, and then intend to go down on them later or have them go down on you, but then again I have grounds to say that's also health and safety advice. Because if you don't listen to that advice, you'll find yourself in the emergency room.

So there is a gray area, of which I'd love to talk to a mod about.

But really the mods here are smart common sense people, with the intention that this place is for helping young people and to be wise in a rough world.

You seem to think that I want kids to discuss blatantly pornographic stories online - I don't. I simply started the thread out of curiosity, and not as a way to convince mods to change some of the fundamental aspects of the site.

Also it's 301GB, not 300, thanks.

It's possible you're second paragraph in the OP was misinterpreted in it's emphasis.

Just wanted to add that it would be great if you would report those posts whenever you see them. Since Puberty101 is one of the most active sections it happens from time to time that we to overlook something we would otherwise have locked/deleted, so reports are always appreciated.
Other than that, I agree with what everyone said.
