If it only lasted for 15 seconds it probably wasn't a panic attack. Just a spurt of anxiety possibly combined with a bit of acid reflux or something. Don't worry about it too much, especially if this was an isolated incident.

Feeling like you're choking, or can't breath, is a common anxiety symptom, probably wasn't acid reflux, unless you suffer from that. Anxiety can come on randomly, and sometimes without any trigger/cause. It doesn't sound like you had a full blown anxiety attack since it lasted for ~15 seconds, but that definitely sounds like anxiety to me.

Don't get me wrong. When I have anxiety I feel like I can't breathe. But for me at least, a lot of the time it triggers acid reflux for me which can also cause the choking feeling. You can get it without the acid reflux.

It could be any number of things. That wasn't a full blown panic attack but you could have just unknowingly started worrying about something or gotten nervous and that would explain the feeling of your heart pounding and your heart leaping into your throat (usually you feel like you're choking for a moment). A lot of people get these little pangs of anxiety now and then but can take a few deep breaths and it's over.

If it's consistent, that's characteristic of anxiety but everyone does have these reactions once in awhile.

But Hannah does have a point, if you're prone to acid reflux or heartburn they can actually cause basically the same feelings. And then you get freaked out because it comes on so suddenly sometimes. We can't really give you a good answer from just one instance of this happening but I would really worry about it.
