Default Am I Bipolar?

Recently I've been in a really weird mood... I'll be upset then I'll be really happy. Why is that? My friend thinks I am Bipolar. This happens a lot to me and I don't know what's wrong with me?! Can someone tell me?

If your mood swings are switching rapidly, then it's highly unlikely that you have Manic-Depressive disorder. People suffering from this disorder typically experience periods of manic behavior where they feel not nessicarily happy, but with out a care in the world. They might start making outrageous purchases or carelessly forming new relationships. This manic period is followed by a period of depression. These periods typically last about 4-8 months each, and do not usually include many mood swings inside of one of the periods.

You are most likely suffering from changing hormones. However, if you feel that you have no control over your emotions what so ever, there are several disorders which deal with things of that nature, and you would likely benefit from a visit to a Psychiatrist.

That's exactly how I feel. I can't control how I feel as much as I try. I give it a couple of months before I go see someone about it.

That doesn't sound like bipolar to me. I would see a doctor but it could just be severe mood swings.

PM sometime, I love to talk

If it was severe mood swings they wouldn't be ongoing for months and months.

I don't think you have bipolar. Just try to think before you react to things. Could be hormones

Oh I didn't realize it had been happening that long, how often does your mood last? With bipolar you usually would go between really happy and really sad about every two weeks, but if it seems to be changing by the hour it might be something else

It happens a lot rather than every two weeks. Every couple of hours I'd say. So it may be something else.

It sounds like a possible hormonal imbalance in your brain or maybe elsewhere.
sometimes people have to be put on meds for a while to get it to balance out.
Usually a doctor can diagnose what is wrong pretty quickly.
The sooner you get it taken care of the better.

One thing no one has mentioned is that because of hormone levels people under 17 with bipoler often have more mixed episodes and rapid cycling.

The thing with bipolar is unmedicated it is practically impossible to function. You cant focus, you most likely cant manage money, your speach speeds up and you are verging on psycotic most of the day if your under 17 it lasts about a week or less.

so if your able to function your probably not bipolar
