Default "Don't Worry, I'm Fine"

C'mon, we've all said it. Someone will ask you, "What's wrong?" or "How are you feeling today," and it will, undeniably come out. Perhaps it's because often when people ask questions like that, they don't really want to know the answer. Or maybe we are just too afraid to actually tell them. And, from my experience, when we do say something about how we're REALLY feeling, it comes out like a sob story. Woe is me. The bottom line is, I'm not sure who to turn to anymore. To the friends that I don't lie to, I feel like a burden. To the friends that I do lie to, I feel like I'm hiding who I am. Ta-da, I'm regressing into depression, lucky me. Instead of getting into an inarticulate, over-emotional freak out, I'll just keep this short and come out with it: do you use your friends as instant therapists? I'm not sure what to do anymore. I can't tell who wants to help and who wants me to shut up, or vice versa. I'm a person that generally wears my heart on my sleeve, and I don't like hiding what I'm feeling. If I'm pissed, you know. If I'm sad, you know. If I'm off-the-walls excited, you know. But how am I supposed to show off the stomach-grinding emotions that come along with all of this. I don't want to be over-dramatic to my friends, constantly shooting off depressing poetry and acting like I belong in a straight jacket, but I hate lying, hiding all of it. Any advice? Please let me know, thanks for reading!

Find somone who you don't have to hide your emotions. Perhaps if you express how you're really feeling with one person, like a councillor or somthing, then You don't have to over load your friends. But don't blanket your feelings to people close to you, it'll just make you feel worse. Sorry if that didn't make any sense!

but not with everything.

I have a few close friends who I don't hide things from, and they do the same to me. Many of them are on here and i think it helps if it's a two way thing. If you know you try to help them too, then you don't feel so guilty about asking them for help if you see what I mean.

You brought hate, pills and knives,
And this is how the tale begins.
Its your life, exist and wonder why.
When it only fails to work,
It only fails to work sometimes

I feel like this a lot of the time, I don't like talking to my friends because I don't want to "annoy them", "irritate them", "make them hate me". But at the end of the day they are your friends, they're your friends for a reason. And real friends stick with you not just for the good, fun, happy times but for the bad too. They want to help you. And let's face it you'd do the same for them and not think anything of it. So why would you think they are bothered by helping you, they want too.

And also as Kathy said, if you make sure you ask how they are doing, how they are feeling. Don't just use them to help you give back the same help. Then you shouldn't feel like a burden.

Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of travelling.

i tend to be a therapist or, that person that cares for everyone. i really dont mind it. i know what it feels like to need someone when there is nobody there. it does tend to be stressful and tiring at times, but the outcome is worth it. :3

~i enjoy it.
