I dont think 16 is too young at all.

I think that it's kind of like the opposite of how teachers used to say if you're going to act like a baby, i'm going to treat you like a baby. If you treat 16 yr olds (already physically mature even though they're not quite done mentally) like baby's and don't allow kids to do things like drink or other things, then they become more exciting and they also learn about drinking through friends instead of a parent who can help teach them responsible drinking. If you make it illegal, it won't stop kids from doing it, just make it more dangerous. The same with criminization of anything that's really not the gov't's bussiness like what people do to themselves as long as the don't harm or force anything upon other's.
