To be honest guys, i'd rather help him out than worry about where this should go.
I'm a member of my local gym. I spend about 2 hours there about twice a week. It's a great way to socialise as well. Just do 10 mins on a treadmill or cross trainer and gradually increase time.
I'm sure your doctor can give you some great advice as well. They say eat 5 fruti and veg a day. To me that's unrealistic but I do my best. Instead of getting a chocolate bar from a vending machine, grab an apple.
Cut down on the fizzy drinks - water is the best option but it tastes crap. Get some flavoured water like I do and try to cut down on snacking between meals. Pasta and white bread should be avoided
