i used to suffer insomnia...id go like 4 days with no sleep and then a few nights id get maybe 3hrs...then after a week or more id crash and sleep for like 24hrs.
Anyway my insomnia was the begining of my depression.
After the insomnia came, withdrawal from friends, no apetite, no interest in things i usually enjoyed, anxiety etc etc and it just got worse from there.
while u only write about not being able to sleep, itd b good just to keep an eye out for any of the above developing, just incase.
see, i wish someone had warned me that insomnia was a warning sign of depression.
If they do develope, the sooner u recognise it, the sooner u get help, the better.
