Oxycodone is one step away from heroin. Very similar, equally addictive. The high is really good, which is part of why it's so addictive. The drug literally hijacks the reason centers of the brain almost immediately and so you don't realize you're becoming dependent and then addicted.
One of my good friends insisted that he could use it responsibly and knew how to manage it so as to not get addicted. He was pretty quickly addicted to it, switched to snorting heroin because it was "cheaper", then switched to shooting heroin because it was "a better value." That was about a year ago. He's been in rehab twice and relapsed both times.
I've had other friends with serious Vicodin or Oxy addictions who managed to kick, but it was a long and painful process.
I would strongly suggest avoiding even experimenting.
