Peace in a small area may not be impossible, but the area would have to be secluded, barring entry from anyone not born into the area, and disallowing anyone with a different religion or different beliefs from others in that area. An example would be a small town isolated from society full of protestants. They would all have to be kind, optimistic individuals, and they would all have to be passive, not aggressive in their actions. True peace recquires too many restrictions, but yes, there are a helluva lot of avoidable problems that humans are faced with, that if overcome could make society more peaceful, but not completely at peace. A world in pieces may be possible, but a world in peace is not.
