All hail illegal software
I'm in the process of acquiring some myself, luckily my brother has a friend who has it. Really though, it can't damage the DVD. In movies the data is pressed into metal, not written in dye. Only the data on a DVD-/+RW can be damaged by a write laser, as the color of the dye can be changed over and over again, and he read laser is used for ripping anyway. The software just overrides the data encryption and copies the disc to your computer.
