Space agency links with Alberta schools
Students in Alberta are set to start receiving a stellar education after the federal government on Wednesday announced a deal for the country's space agency to deliver in-class science education.
Under the four-year agreement with Industry Canada, children from kindergarten through Grade 12 will receive classroom instruction by video-conference from over 60 Canadian Space Agency scientists and engineers.
The CSA's education and professional development programs are delivered using the organization's high-speed data network, which Alberta schools can take advantage of thanks to the province's investment in broadband internet and video-conferencing technology.
The Longueuil, Que.-based telelearning program uses space-related concepts to help students and teachers understand and use scientific principles.
