Make it so only moderators can post in the J Place

If a user would like to make a thread, please ask one of the mods first. all unathourized threads will be deleted.
Due to new VT site policy, there will be no more game threads, except the 2 main ones, the J game and True or false. all other threads are deleted, or moved to the VT arcade

Why go through all of this? Just set the permissions in the Administrator's Control Panel so that only moderators can create new threads in the J Place.

Thoughts?

Because the J place is a member forum or diary and they don't have the authority to change the permissions for the forum, nor would the administrators actually change it for them.

The most they can do is post that and just delete/move threads and such which just takes more time but still works the exact same

Because the J Place mods are diary mods who don't have access to the Administrator's Control Panel.

But the administrators have access to the ACP- so why can't they change it? That's what I said in the OP?

The admins won't change it because member forums should not have that kind of customization.

Think of diaries as blank pages. When you get one on this site, you just get the page, its completely blank just like an empty forum that has to be just like every other page (forum in this case) in the book (category).

You can't change the page or basic framework of a member forum.

They just have to be creative in how they moderate their forum.

So why would the J Place rules say ask a moderator before posting a thread, otherwise all others that aren't authorized will be deleted? That defeats the purpose...

Re: Make it so only moderators can post in the J Place

Because they can do whatever they want with the page that they are given.

For instance, I have a rule in my diary that there are no bumped threads (when the rest of the site does have a rule).

You can do whatever you want...but you have to do whatever you want within the means that are provided to you.

The admins cant just change the permissions for one diary, thats unfair, defeating the purpose, and just illogical in the grand scheme of diaries.

If you would like the rule changed so moderators only can make threads, ask on of the moderators. as in me, zero beat or arctic monkey. But i wont be changing it, because sometimes other members make good threads.

now, im not sure if i have the right to asked this to be locked, but if i do, can a mod please lock it?
