How do you deal with anxiety?
I have been living with extreme social anxiety and school can be overwhelming sometimes. Do you have any tips to unwind or relax? Any tips would be great!

People always suggest deep breathing for calming down. Another idea would be to imagine a place that you consider calming.

I don't know how that would work for extreme anxiety. Would you consider a counselor or therapist to help you along?

With me, Ive just sorta spent the past few years telling myself "it's gonna be okay" and establishing self confidence, and that's what helps a lot. Even if something hurts or my anxiety ramps up, nothing is more supportive than hearing your own little voice in your head say "you can do it " sound cliche but it's true. Also, music tends to help a lot. Keep a pair of earbuds on you at all times if you can, maybe even splurge for a wireless pair to be sneaky when you need it.

For me, it helps to find a quiet place. Spending a few minutes outdoors, away from people is best.

The best i can do, is to breath and find a quiet place. Then i close my eyes and i try to relax

As someone who used to suffer from extreme social anxiety, but who has been able to recover from it somewhat, I can offer you some tips and tricks that I found worked well.

1. Try not to be too concerned with what people think about you. Trust me, I know it's very hard, but it will help. Much of social anxiety thrives on your concern with other people's opinion.

2. Try mindfulness meditation. It's simply where you focus on sensations and your surroundings to pull yourself away from negative thoughts.

3. Talk to somebody you trust about your feelings, if you can.

4. Use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. What I did was write down all the negative thoughts I would experience in a social situation, like "they think I'm dumb", etc. Then, every time I would have that thought, I would switch it out with something more positive like "It's not a big deal if I said something stupid. They won't remember for long, and it'll only hurt me." Keep doing this, and you'll actually start to form a habit of thinking more positive things.

Trust me, I know how hard this is. But you can get through it. I hope this helps all of you who struggle with this at least some. :what:

Having taken several psychology classes at my school to try to understand my situation and how I could change things, I've learned a lot of valuable skills and resources to help.

I'm not sure if I suffer with anxiety... well it like this I was with someone who ended up cheating on me with his ex gf so the person I am with I been with him 8 years but get worried about if he cheating on me and I get worry when other females are near him. Good thing is he knows what my past was like and he helps so much but I feel like I pushing him away. Can someone help or give me advise me please. I might have to talk to gb
