| Introduction |
| Welcome to VirtualTeen.org. The VirtualTeen.org Site Rules should be read and followed by all members. Violation(s) of these rules may result in warnings, temporary bans, and/or permanent bans. |
| Membership |
| To register and post on these forums, you must be between the ages of 13 and 19. If you are underage or overage, your account will be deleted, disabled, and/or banned. Members who have registered while they were 13-19 years old may continue to post on the forums.
Explicit usernames are not permitted. Accounts with explicit usernames may be deleted or banned. Members may not have more than one account. Multiple accounts may be deleted or banned. |
| Behavior |
| Spamming is not allowed. This depends on the forum's genre and moderator's tolerance. Excessive spamming may result in reduction of post count, various restrictions placed on account, and/or ban.
Double posting (a person posting twice in a row in the same thread and/or making the same thread more than once) is not allowed. This applies to triple posting, et cetera. Instead of posting multiple times, use the edit function, which can be accessed by clicking the "edit" button of one's post. No fighting, flaming, or bashing. Such events will be reported to an administrator. Depending on the severity, any participants in a fight/flame/bash may be warned or banned. Trolling on the forums is not tolerated. We define trolling as: any threads or posts that are deliberately off-topic and only serve to annoy other members or seek to start a fight, complaining about how bad a member is, or excessive posts about how a member needs to be banned or how a thread needs to be locked. Depending on the amount and severity of trolling, any participants my be warned or banned. Swearing and cursing may help some people 'vent' and/or express their feelings. Minimal use of curses (swears) is considered acceptable. If curses are directed at a member (or members), they may be seen as a violation of our no fighting/trolling policy (see above). Do not ask for the personal information or pictures of other members. If a member asks for any personal information or pictures through private messaging on this website, that member may have their private messaging privileges restricted or completely disabled. Attempting to access an account that is not your own (an account that you did not register yourself) is prohibited unless you have explicit permission from the owner of the account. Violating this will result in a ban. If the owner(s) of the account(s) do not confirm that you had their permission, the attempt(s) will be considered a violation. Public display of contempt towards administrators, global moderators (including counselors), and moderators is prohibited. Violation of this may be seen as trolling if the violator already has a reputation of trolling; otherwise, violation is known as contempt towards a staff member. Changing or reverting an edit made to your post(s), signature, or public profile by an administrator, global moderator (including counselor), or moderator is not permitted. Violating this will be seen as contempt towards a staff member. |
| Content |
| Posts and signatures that advertise other websites and other flagrant advertising are not permitted. Links to external sites are allowed when they relate to a discussion, in your signature, the website section of your profile, and the Affiliate Member Sites and Links forum (with affiliate guidelines followed).
Pornography and explicit content are not permitted anywhere on this site. Links to pornographic and explicit material are also not permitted. Violation of this rule will result in an immediate ban, as well as the editing and/or deletion of content that contains pornographic or explicit material. Content that encourages illegal activities, such as warez and illegal drug use, including any links to such illegal activities are strictly prohibited. Any promotion toward drug usage, self harm, or suicide will absolutely not be tolerated. Do not post topics in all CAPITAL letters. Not only are all capital titles annoying, they do not explain the subject any better than normal letters. Topics with a high amount of capitals may have their title changed to lower case. Only in extreme cases will titles in all capital letters be accepted. An excessive use of smilies in the Shoutbox or posts is also not allowed. There should always be more text than smilies. Members who break this rule will receive a warning. Posts and signatures with content or links that force harm upon a user or a user's computer are prohibited. Threads, posts and signatures with the sole purpose of advertising instant messaging details and requests for members to PM them are not permitted. This is for the protection of all members. Such threads/posts/signatures will be removed immediately and members who post them may receive an Infraction. |
| Other Guidelines |
| Do not constantly complain about any decision of a staff member. Your view will be seen, but moderators and administrators have a duty. All decisions are made in consideration for the site's stability.
If you have a question or an issue to bring up, please search the forum for a thread with similar content before creating a new topic. Use subject titles that fit the content of your post. Do not post new topics with "READ THIS" (or similar) for the title, and again, please do not post in all capital letters. Do not attack or harass any members. Non-registered members also have the ability to view this site, and seeing attacks will likely give them a negative view of this site. If this guideline is flagrantly ignored, your post(s) will be seen as a violation to our no fighting/flaming/bashing policy. Please respect other members. If you personally feel that they do not deserve your respect, then that is a problem to resolve outside of these forums. Everyone deserves a chance and respect to match. You may post your opinions and thoughts, but please think of how others will interpret them. Remember that this is the internet, and vocal cues and undertones cannot be heard. Try to be pleasant and friendly when stating your thoughts. If any post has content or extreme opinionated view(s) that may result in a fight, any moderator can edit or delete the post as seen fit. Please keep pictures in your avatar, signature, and posts to a minimum, in terms of file size and pixel dimensions. Please do not post in red constantly, as that is the most common color with which moderators edit posts. Do not ask to be a staff member. Asking does not improve your chances of becoming one. Staff members are chosen by behavior, demonstrated maturity and trustworthiness, and knowledge pertaning to a particular forum and its subject. Openings may be posted, or an administrator may privately seek a potential candidate. |
| The Staff |
| All staff members are volunteers who receive no financial compensation for their help towards running this site. They can be distinguished from normal members by title and rank image. Staff members do not have any numbers in their rank images (excluding "New" and "Banned").
Administrators and global moderators are staff members who can moderate any forum on Virtual Teen. Administrators maintain all aspects and functions of the site. Moderators can only moderate certain forums. If you have an issue in which a normal moderator is unable to help, try contacting a global moderator or administrator. While the staff of this website manage posts and events among the forums, each person is still a member - meaning any staff member can post their own opinion, leave positive or negative reputation, and any other privileges registered members have been given. However, all will always maintain a position of authority. |
| Conclusion |
| These rules and guidelines are the standard for all forums. Unwritten (implied) rules still apply, as they are common sense. The written rules and guidelines may change at any time and without notification. Abide by the most recent rules when posting in any forum. Also note, any forum-specific rules are an extension of these rules; forum-specific rules do not supersede any of the rules or guidelines listed here, unless clearly stated by an administrator. |
