House Sit-In on Guns

Posted June 27th, 2016 at 09:01 PM by Microcosm

It seems that our Congress has become a day care for children.

Democrats staged a 25-hour sit-in recently in the House to promote gun control laws and it just sickens me. What else sickens me is the raising of posters where people merely scream their opinion with no justification whatsoever for it. Half of them couldn't even respond to their opponents with a coherent argument, and that goes for pro-gun folks and anti-gun folks.

This "sit-in" mechanic is childish and it's essentially an attempt to pressure the other party to agree with you. If only we would listen to each other and make coherent arguments and have debates that strictly refrain from any hollering and, frankly, American protest styles, i.e. screaming out loud that gun control is bad or that abortion is murder, then we might be able to actually listen to each other's arguments and come to a reasonable decision.

Instead, our Congress seems to adhere to those who can scream louder, but I suppose that's the nature of democracy.
