When I went to the doctor March 29 the doctor told me that there's a likely chance that I have hypertension...she said that for 13 my blood pressure was high...when they checked it, it was 145/89.

She said that even if I don't necessarily have it at this point of time, there's a good chance I could have it very soon, because both of my parents have it. I'm thinking that I already have it...for several reasons...

A lot of the time, my face is hot and I feel top-heavy, like theres a lot of pressure in my head. I have headaches a lot too, but not like the loud-noise enduced ones, more like the throbbing/pressure ones.

The reason why I'm concerned is because my sister's kidneys failed when she was 13, and the doctor thinks that it was because of undetected high blood pressure.

I'm already big for someone my age...I'm thirteen and ten months, I weigh 179 pounds and I'm 5'11 and 3/4 inches tall.

Should I go back to the doctor again? Since the doctor's visit, I've had it checked twice. (My sister-in-law is a CNA so she knows how to check blood pressure.) The first time, it was 132/89, the second time it was 175/68.

Should I be concerned?

Any input appreciated.
Thanks.

Well, the normal blood pressure for adults is around 120/80. It doesn't take much to make blood pressure rise, whether it's from medication or from nervousness. Just make sure you monitor it or have it checked again soon. If your blood pressure is that high constantly, then your body is being affected in one way or another.

maybe you could start preventing any further rise/any damage that would occur by changing your diet. start eating less fatty foods and nothing high in sodium. drink lots of water each day and maybe do some running. i myself dont have high blood pressure or anyting but i still drink about 3 poland spring bottles each day during school because it keeps my mouth from drying out, it helps me think more clearly and just drinking lots of water is healthy since your body is made up of mostly water. ive never really understood what high blood pressure is or what those fractions mean so i dont think i can offer much more help but i still think a change in diet and more exercise wouldnt hurt and at the very least you could lose some weight and maybe better things could branch off from that.
