I am Bipolar... i am 13

I was on Seroquel, 400mg for like a year... one day I just decided to quit taking it... i didnt tell any1 and I just quit taking it... for the first few days I couldnt sleep and I got really cold but I was sweating really bad, my thoughts were rACING... everything i looked at seemed large yet far away, sounds were loud really fast and echoey ... after a few more days I would pass out pretty often and had the shakes... when I would fall asleep it only lasted a few minutes and then I would wake up and freak out thinking people were trying to kill me... after a few more days I was convinced that not only were people trying to kill me but that I was also dying... finally a family my mother caught me talking to some1 that wasnt even there... I ended up in the hospital in a pych ward... once they relised I had not been taking my seroquel they gave me some and I fell asleep for like 20 hours...

And...... Reason for this post?

Are you trying to make a point about '' don't be stupid and randomly stop taking your meds ''

Or something else??

I hope you haven't done something like that again and that your taking whatever you are on right now

I mean its mostly kids my age there, some a little older some a little younger but it just scary that all

Well Alan whoever they are, their job is to help you and there is no way you'll be put in the hospital because of thoughts about not taking your meds

i mean they can do pretty much anything to you right? thats what i am worried about...

but then again I might just be a little paranoid...

(on a funny side note I sometimes think that the telephone system has some dark and sinister purpose... and might possibly have evil people living in rooms that are associated with certian phone numbers... I know it crazy but some how it makes sense... but even though I know it crazy I still kinda find it funny)

They can't do pretty much anything to you

You are a minor so pretty much everything regarding stuff like that is up to your parents

If you were an adult and were to say.. Sign yourself into a mental institute then yes in theory they could do anything to you

And as long as you know its crazy & find it funny your quite normal still xD

Yeah... I'm on 600 mg of Seroquel myself. It's an antipsychotic, so it's definitely not a medication that you can just stop taking, it really messes you up when you go off of it. I've done that a few times and it's never ended up good >_> Sounds like you had a typical experience when going off of it, especially the lack of sleep, paranoia.

You've gotta take them consistently for the benefits. You miss 2 days or more, and it's all thrown out of whack. Though you found out the hard way, glad to hear that you learned your lesson in randomly going off of your meds.

Yes I think you should remain taking them and maybe later in life these issues might start to fade. You can only hope for the best.

Your parents wouldn't be suggested to do so by any professional who has a valid college degree, trust me.

Well I was just saying that ehh for example in here if you are a full grown adult by law ( 18 ) and sign yourself into a mental institution willingly for whatever reason. You can't really leave without their permission until they see you as a individual who poses no threat to himself or others.

And no problem

Unless they're committed, an adult can usually leave any time they want. Usually you'd be evaluated upon entering the facility. You might have to stay there for 2 or 3 days under observation and talking to doctors before you're allowed to leave, depending on the situation and the facility... but if you're not deemed so severe as to be committed then you can leave whenever you want regardless of what the doctor's there would recommend.
