Hair Question.

I like when I just make my hair go on the side, not using a brush it looks good, but the problem is I have long hair, and it only looks good with long hair. So, how do you think I may be able to make my hair stay that way? Gel? Spray? Just suggest something that would make it stay that way and not collapse.
