I've been addicted to self harm for years and cut way too deep and have had stitches. I am trying to lessen the amount I cut but I want to know how to cut in a way that is not as harmful and will in no way lead to me having to get stitches again? I'm not asking for techniques on how to hurt myself I just want to know how to hurt myself less but still cut if I just can't keep away from it. :what::what::what:

Use something blunt. It might not cut as well, but hopefully it will either cut less deep, or refuse to cut until you get frustrated and give up. But don't take my advice, there's a thread on top of this section with advice on ways to stop cutting.

Don't cut at all. I know it's hard, but cutting is a bad habit and there are other ways to cope with your depression.

If you are having trouble controlling yourself, get a wrist band, or a rubber band and flick that on your wrist. This does not draw blood or leave marks or brusies.

If you need to talk we are here. :)
