If you could live in either....
-A big city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City) (700,000+ people, very dense, more apartments than individual houses)
-Large city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverside,_California) (100k-699,999 people, bit more spread out)
-Moderate suburb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunnyvale,_California) (50,000-100,000 people, a bit more spread out, more individual houses than apartments)
-Small suburb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palo_Alto,_California) (25,000-50,000 people)
-Small town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yucca_Valley,_California) (8,000-25,000 people, a bit more secluded)
-Large rural area (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buellton,_California) (5,000-8,000 people)
-Small rural community (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttonwillow,_California) (>5,000 people)
-Isolated rural area (1-700 people)

Which would you choose and why?
I tried to come up with examples for each, but a majority of them are in California since I'm lackluster with my geography :whoops:

I'd say small town to moderate suburb. The place being quiet it great, but ha ING stuff around, without too much clutter is perfect

Moderate suburb if I could have my ways.

Although big city because I want to become a more extroverted person and theres always better characters and things to do in bigger city.

I'd like to live in a small rural community near the mountains. I hat cities and crowds and everything to do with large amounts of people. I'd much rather spend my time with just a few close friends out in the woods than in a city

Small rural like where I live. Private yard which is great in the summer for the pool and skinny dipping during the day

Isolated rural community ... Because I am sick of noise in my city , sick of pollution , cars , asphalt , grayness etc ... I would like in some isolated rural community with some old people that are optimistic , funny and totally independent , people that live like 2 centuries ago , people who are living every day like it is their last one , without any electric power , with people that respect each other , where morality and honor are highest values , familiar values based society , where you can come only by walk or by horse , somewhere out of modern world , somewhere near mountains and lakes on some great altitude where even planes can't fly ...

small rural community of course! their is now experience better than taking a walk by yourself in a huge open pasture or lightly freckled wood in the summer!

I live in and have always lived in a moderate suburb but I think I'd like to live somewhere bigger as well, I love the amount of people and all the things to do. But at the same time, I'd love to have a farm and live somewhere tiny and know everybody, but it's also appealing to know very few people and not have to care about people judging me because I don't know them. So I have no idea, I really haven't made up my mind yet.

I'd really prefer a large city (I.e Atlanta). I love the scenery, the major places and parks you can visit that aren't in the country, the modern society, and I just love driving there

Moderate suburb

By your classification, I almost live in a big city, just ~10k shy from 700k people.

I live in an "Isolated rural area".
I'm from a small place called Drumbo, the population here is around 650 last time I checked.
It's not very fun since there aren't many kids my age around here.

If I could choose, I would want to live in a small town.

Would live in a large city given your description... I live in a big city though (Calgary, 5 million), and the city is so spread out there is actually room for individual houses. :P Anyways lovin' it where I am.

I'm used to a really big city. it has everything you would need or want and there's a buzz to it. but I also want a beach house to escape to.

Moderate sub or large city. Although I come from Toronto so 700,000 is small to me. Mississauga (suburb of Toronto) even has 800,000 and I wouldn't consider it that dense. But that's probably because I grew up there.

I'll take the moderate suburb. I currently live in a small rural community and I despise it, but I also couldn't comprehend living in an extremely large place either.

I live in a small suburb and it's okay, but I wish I could live in somewhere a bit bigger that has more stuff to do - I often find that if I'm out doing stuff with my friends on a weekend past 10:30, it's definitely not in my city.

I would love to live in a small rural community. Growing up in NYC is fun, but its fast, dirty, crowded, and IN YOUR FACE. I think with less people, you get to know everybody and theres a stronger sense of community and you could live at a nice slow pace. I also think there would be a lot more parking. :D

A rural area, but close enough to a big city that I could reasonably do things. Like, within an hour drive or so.
