The Hurricane season is well under way, and for the first time ever we have a forum to discuss it in! Here's the place to discuss hurricanes, typhoons and other major weather events going on in the world. I'll do my best to keep track of things and post them here, and anyone is welcome to join in on the discussion at any time.

This is a good thread to have. Why hasn't it been stickied yet?

We do have something to discuss now. Tropical Storm Bertha, our 2nd named storm this year, has formed. It doesn't look like it's going to be bad at this point.

I wonder why people would want to be named after a storm. Why would you want to hear a storm named after you kill other people?
But I agree with Blood, this thread should be stickied.

That's a good point, I guess it's just interesting to say "hey look, there's a significant event that I share a name with." I'd be lying if I said I hadn't looked up "Hurricane Tyler." :P

So apparently Bertha is expected to become a category one hurricane soon. Luckily, it appears that it will remain offshore.

Yup, Bertha is now officially a hurricane. It's expected to start weakening again sometime tomorrow.
