This is really horrible...my thoughts are with all the victims.

U.S.
Las Vegas Shooting Near Mandalay Bay Casino Kills 50

A gunman at a Las Vegas hotel rained a rapid-fire barrage on a huge outdoor concert festival on Sunday night, sending thousands of people fleeing. At least 50 victims died, and hundreds of others were wounded, officials said, making it one of the deadliest mass shootings in United States history.

“We believe the individual killed himself,” said Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on CNN.

Online video of the attack outside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino showed the singer Jason Aldean performing outside at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a three-day country music event, interrupted by the sound of automatic gunfire. The music stopped, and concertgoers ducked for cover. “Get down,” one shouted. “Stay down,” screamed another.

Several SWAT teams were sent to the hotel immediately after the first reports of the shooting at 10:08 p.m., and officers overheard on police radio reported being pinned down by gunfire. Shortly before midnight the Las Vegas police reported that “one suspect is down,” and soon thereafter the police said they did not believe there were any more active gunmen.

The Las Vegas police said Monday that 50 people were killed and 406 people had been taken to the hospital. The police identified the gunman as Stephen Paddock, 64. Sheriff Lombardo said the police were seeking “a companion” named Marilou Danley, and the authorities later said they were “confident” they had located her.

Eric Paddock, a brother of Stephen Paddock who lives in Orlando, Fla., told the Orlando Sentinel that he had made a statement to the police. “We are completely dumbfounded,” he said. “We can’t understand what happened.”

President Trump issued a statement on Twitter on Monday extending sympathies to the victims and their families.

Video of the shooting captured nine seconds of rapid-fire, continuous bursts, followed by 37 seconds of silence from the weapon amid panicked screaming. The barrage of gunfire then erupted again in at least two more rounds, both shorter than the first.

In the confusion after the shooting, the police also descended on the Ali Baba Restaurant, about a 10-minute drive from the Mandalay Bay, and they also investigated reports of a shooting at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino, not far from the concert ground.
A reported clearing out the Mandalay Bay’s 29th floor and working their way up to the 32nd floor. A police Twitter post described reports of an “active shooter” near or around the Mandalay Bay casino.

Video from the shooting showed Mr. Aldean, the final performer of the night, running off the stage as the gunfire erupted.

Jake Owen, a country singer who was on stage with Mr. Aldean when the shooting began, told CNN on Monday that it was like “shooting fish in a barrel from where he was.”

“This is not an exaggeration: This shooting was going on for at least 10 minutes,” he added. “It was nonstop.”

Concertgoers described hearing round after round of gunfire. “Everyone was running, you could see people getting shot,” Gail Davis, one of the witnesses, said. “I’ve never been that scared in my life,” she added. “To have this happen, I can’t wrap my mind around it.”

“It just kept coming,” one of the witnesses, Robyn Webb, told The Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It was relentless.”
Emergency vehicles at the corner of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard after the shooting.

They said they saw about 20 people bleeding in the street.

“That’s when we knew for sure it was real,” said her companion, Matt Webb.

The police reported closing off about a mile of Las Vegas Boulevard and asked the public to steer clear of the area.

International Airport in Las Vegas said that some flights destined for the airport were diverted because of police activity. The airport is just east of the Mandalay hotel, and after the shooting there were reports of people fleeing the concert by running onto an airport runway.

The hotel itself was placed on virtual lockdown after the shooting, guests said.

The1 Harvest Festival bills itself as “three days of country music on the Vegas Strip,” and Sunday night’s performance was the last of the festival. The site of the concert, the Las Vegas Village and Festival Grounds, run by MGM Resorts, sprawls over 15 acres and has a capacity of 40,000 people. The festival’s website said this year’s three-day concert was sold out.

I just can't comprehend how one human being could be so full of hate (or apathy) that they'd feel inclined to do something like this. 50 people are gone and 50 families and groups of friends are mourning, and to no fault of any of them. They just wanted to go see a music festival. Probably enjoying some time off of work or school, and now they're dead. It's gut-wrenching.

I'm very interested to know how this guy managed to get his hands on an automatic weapon and get it up to the 32nd floor of a building that should have had some security (assuming there weren't plenty of people up and about inside the building). Also, what type of automatic weapon could he have had that could cover the distance from the building to the concert? It's quite a long distance.

I think this guy must have been seriously lucky to have been able to smuggle a weapon like that into a hotel and up to such a height. I'm really wondering how this could have been allowed to happen.

The police is not treating this incident as terrorism. Really? Someone openly start shooting at people in a busy street killing 50 people and injuring hundred more, that kinda sounds like terrorism.

ISIS as claim responsibility for the shooting, but they are no evidence that he was link to them. If he was actually linked to ISIS, Trump will freak out when he learns white people can be terrorists too.

Guns are legal there he probably already had that weapon or legally bought it a few days or weeks before, also open carry is legal in Nevada, he probably didn't even hide it.

According to the AP (https://apnews.com/4eeaef2efced49698855d13830de3327/Sniper-in-high-rise-hotel-kills-at-least-50-in-Las-Vegas), the death toll has risen to 58. With all the injured, it's bound to rise more.

Unfortunately, attacks like this are more likely to happen. Ever since the Nice attack and Manchester bombing, large public gatherings and events have become easy targets for terrorists from a variety of different groups to go for large-scale attacks.

no clue wtf trump and racism have to do with this terrible tragedy when neither are relevant

as far as the gun:
-I have yet to see any specifics as to if it was automatic or semi-automatic. in a majority of states it is legal to buy a semi-automatic rifle/handgun with the federally mandated background check (this guy would have passed more than likely as he had no criminal history)
-the one video clip that I heard made it sound like automatic fire which is obtained either through a super crazy background check, lots of $$ and lots of regulations OR the more likely it was obtained illegally
-on the "how did he get it there" probably disassembled the rifle(s) and took them up as luggage

regardless of how the guy did it or what he used, absolute senseless tragedy :-/

This is really heartbreaking. It's devastating to see many innocent souls lost, injured, and traumatized in what was supposed to be a peaceful gathering of many individuals sharing their passion for music in Las Vegas.

He likely modified an assault-style rifle like an AR-15 from semi to full auto. In It's really not very difficult to do to rally any gun. There are ways people make handguns fully automatic. The gunman could have also illegally purchased a real, actual assault rifle like the M4 Carbine or M16 Those things have extremely good range, and with a high-power scope... yeah. The story isn't all out yet. There will be much more information in the next few weeks to come.

So what I have got so far is that Left wing is jumping in Joy because victims were country music fans who are obviously trump supporters. That is fact.

There is high possibility that gunman was armed and instructed by Democrats. Reasons he did this? Propably had nothing to loose and some terminal illness or he didnt actually die and is currently somewhere else with Hillary drinking soda and laughing.

Another possibility is that he really did convert to Islam since these kinds of attacks are fundamental core of being muslim.

One thing is sure anyway. Commies like Democrats are going to dance on graves and use this as tool for their own anti gun propaganda

One is that secret service of Spain is behind all of these. Something like this takes media coverage of their own actions in Catalonia away. One good alternative. Or they did it with cooperation with democrats.
to your question how many????
Really i can see countless reasons why it happened these were just those most likely.

The most likely is this is just a guy with a gambling addiction who owed tens of thousands of dollars, he got desperate, blamed others for what was happening to him and wanted to make them pay.

Guns can be easily taken apart and put back together again. Put in cuiycases and taken toma room he accupied for several day (not unusual for him)

Also, automatic weapons are not a banned gun in the USA. And the guns he had were not all necessarily an automatic. Automatic is a word used by the press sometimes to describe what they perceive as an automatic weapon. A bump bun isn't an automatic.

No, he didn't call it terrorism because there was no evidence that it was a terrorist attack (there still isn't, I believe).

So if there is no evidence that he was linked to them, why should the police be treating this incident as terrorism?

Because being linked to ISIS is not a legal requirement for terrorism charges. Like I said someone openly start shooting at people in a busy street killing 50 people and injuring hundred more, that kinda sounds like terrorism. If the shooter was Muslim or just had dark skin, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

No, he didn't call it terrorism because there was no evidence that it was a terrorist attack (there still isn't, I believe).

Like there was no evidence it wasn't terrorism when a white supremacist ran over a protester with a car in Charlottesville. No he didn't call it terrorism in both cases because in his racist mind white people can be terrorist.

You clearly don't know the definition of terrorism, so I'll leave some here for you.

True, not our fault most of terrorist attacks are committed by them.

Like there was no evidence it wasn't terrorism when a white supremacist ran over a protester with a car in Charlottesville. No he didn't call it terrorism in both cases because in his racist mind white people can be terrorist.
How do you know what's going on in his mind though? Forget about other cases, I might agree with you that the Charlottesville incident was a terrorist attack because we have EVIDENCE. We don't have evidence (yet) on this case.

Everyone has their own definition of terrorism and you could make a case for every mass killing from the US bombing wedding in the Middle East to a crazy person shooting kids in a high school.

No, there's only one definition of terrorism, and that definition includes that the perpetrator has to have some sort of ideological motive behind the attack. Until the police finds out the motivations of the shooter, we can't call this incident an act of terror nor the perpetrator a terrorist. Period.

Wrong, they are multiple definition and everyone have their own way to define it, but the important definition is not from the online dictionary, but as it is legally define where the terrorist attack happen. In this case Nevada

1.  “Act of terrorism” means any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to:

(a) Cause great bodily harm or death to the general population; or

(b) Cause substantial destruction, contamination or impairment of:

(1) Any building or infrastructure, communications, transportation, utilities or services; or

(2) Any natural resource or the environment.

https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec4415

So under the Nevada law this was terrorism, but also the Republican party's war on the environment, it's not linked to anything here but funny to point it out.

SO mattsmith48 in your mind it must be that only white people can be terrorists. Iven better in yours commie worldview white people are all automatically terrorists and all muslims are saints. Did I get it right

You know I'm white right?

To me any mass murder or attempt can be terrorism no matter who does it.
