'Shoot him': Car reverses at speed before driver tasered by police
12:05pm Sep 30, 2017

Dramatic video has emerged of the moment a car reversed at speed through Melbourne’s CBD before police tasered and tackled the teenage driver.

Video shows the green-coloured ute reversing into the intersection of Swanston and Finders Streets before the car brakes and spins.

The driver, who was dressed in black body amour and armed with a knife, then jumps out of the car as police point their guns and try to arrest him.

Police believe the man is in his early teens.

Onlookers can be heard yelling at police to shoot the man before he was tasered and tackled to the ground.

Police said pedestrians threw bikes underneath the vehicle in a desperate attempt to stop it.

No injuries have been reported.

Pedestrians and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

The intersection remains closed.

He was probably under the influence of something. The police did a great job though, glad no one was hurt.

It's good this was handled with no injuries of both civilians or police. Most situations like this aren't so lucky.
