Maybe bittersweet as I get one year closer to 18. I think of my dad, my birth dad. And how he's gone.

Now as I turned 17 my dad now was sent to Texas for a 2 week deploy to help. And as this comes to an end, we're being told he's probably not coming home yet. Most likely heading to Florida next

We've heard so little from him, and just seems really scary for me right now. He's smart, he's good about this kinda shit. But still, worried me

Pray for him and everyone down south today please

Hey JT,
Your Dad is a hero, anyone who goes and helps people in disasters is a hero.
I can imagine the stress your going through. At church last night we all prayed for the heros like your dad helping the disaster victims in Texas and Florida. I have some friends here on VT, some who live in Texas and a new friend in Florida. My friend in Florida has be messaging me and so far he's ok. I still worry for him and all the kids on VT who are living in those 2 states. Were all a family on VT. I will continue to pray for everyone and will keep your hero Dad in my prayers. He will be ok JT.

Thanks nick. He is a hero. We pray for him/them aa well. I just fear he won't come home is all. First time since I've known him to be away like this. My mom is used to it. I know he's not in harms way, I just can't help get that thought outa my mind though.

But thank you both for your support guy's a
Appreciate that

Your dad really is a hero, JT. Kudos to him for putting himself out there, and for working so hard during such a hard time for so many people. He's changing so many lives, and that's so incredible.

The fear that he won't come back is a perfectly legitimate fear to have. Try thinking about some of the good times to try and help. It might not go away completely, and that's okay.. But remember the fun times, and that he's doing the best work that he can possibly do for everyone.

Kudos to your dad for being one of the many to go out there, and to you and your family for being so strong while he's out there.

My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend. All the National Guards personal are hero's in my opinion. Our community had a disaster many years ago and the National Guard came to our rescue. I am sure the people your dad and others have and will help will be forever grateful for their heroic acts and kindness. God be with them all.

Keeping you in my thoughts JT. Your dad is clearly a brave soul out there and deserves a lot of respect for it. It might be nerve-wracking to think that he might not come home but rather think that he's done a very selfless thing and helping your country. That in itself is a massive feat and in my eyes deemed a hero for it.

Thanks everyone. He is brave like that. Was weird when he cam home and said he was going. Never saw that side of him before. My mom has. Just packed some shit and left.

He's ok, he's doing good I'm sure. He's talked to mom some. And even if he still not doing so good she won't say.

I know there's not much in the way of law down there. That's a different kinda fear to. But he's able to take care of himself like thatbto so...

But he's defiantly in Florida now. Mom talked to him last night. He's doing good. Just tired. Said it's not as bad as the news make it sound. Just in some areas

It's good to hear that he's doing alright. I think the news always tends to exaggerate things, but from what I've seen it did hit the south pretty hard.

Hope he's still doing okay as it's an excellent act he is doing :)

Good to hear your Dad is save. And even if it might not be as bad as the news say...people like your Dad are greatly appreciated by the people affected. He does an important and amazing job.

Thanks everyone. He went to Florida for a bit after Texas. Then went to PR to help with search and rescue stuff. That's his thing. Got home a few days ago. I didn't recognize him at first look. He said lost weight, looked really tired, and really kinda scraggly to.

I'm just glad he's home and safe. Not many great stories to share. But I guess that's not why he was there either
