Have you ever run a mile on a track for PE class or for sports? What's your best time? If you haven't run a timed mile before what do you think you could run it in?

On a track basically sprinting, think I was just over 5 mins last year. Don't think I'm back to that now have t rimed myself in a while. But I also typically run every day.

And off a track, like running for just enjoyment in the street, or doing CC will give you different times to.

Why?

Hmm, in Aus, we do things using the metric so I've gotten around 4 min to 4:30 for 1km, if I recall correctly, but haven't ran in quite a bit.

if I was going as fast as I could go/decently fast pace, I think I could do 5-6 minute mile, probably closer to 6. I run longer distances when I run these days and while I still go for my best time, when your running more than 10 miles, it is about endurance as well

Like, twelve or more minutes. I was never the most athletic and I hate running.

What's your best time?

That's a good time. I run in high school and am pretty serious about it. My best time is 4:24. I just wondered what times people ran here. I'm always curious about what athletes of other sports can do too. Some people say LeBron James could break a 5 minute mile easily because he is in such good shape while others say he couldn't since distance running is a "different' sort of shape than sprinting on a court. Personally I don't see him breaking 5 myself. Close but not quite.

When I was super into it, I was probably around 8 to 8 1/2 minutes. I'm not really a distance runner though, I much prefer sprints.

I play travel baseball and our coaches have bench marks for us for this type of stuff. At the start of the season they expected an 8 minute mile and the goal is to have it under 5 for all of us prior to the start of summer ball. My best time is 4.50 in a full on sprint and I felt like I was gonna die after.

That's really good tho! Do you do a fall sport? If not you should do cross country.

Like 4-5 minutes, probably towards 5, I try to run everyday the weather is good in the summer.

Not really sure how much a mile is compared to kilometer, but yeah, should be around there

So 1 mile is like 1,6km, then around 6 or 7 minutes maybe. I like running :)

I've run for about 6 months so my fastest speed only 6 mins per kilometer xD :what::what::what::what:

So 1 mile = 1.6km. I was able to run the whole thing in 6:40 minutes last year (grade 9). I remember finishing it in almost 9 minutes back in grade 7

Honestly i prefer sprints

I dont think I can run a mile....!!!
I was never athletic, totally un-muscular and used to be just skin and bones....even then I was huffing and puffing at 200 meters...!!!

Now I've put on some weight and kinda getting chubby....So my performance must be worse.

That's super fast for not being a runner! Get down to like 5:00-5:05 and you would qualify for the state championships probably!

6:70 is a typo right? Even out of US I don't think it's possible to run 6:70

hmm, unless I've misinterpreted your question for this thread, so not to me. 6 mins 70 sec ... I was told, 6:30mins goes (i guess it's US Standard) for 17-21yos if they are in the 1 percent group of this age group. That year I was 16 and attended a intense training program for runners, which lastet more than half a year. Even though I run a few miles every day highly I doubt I could do that again without attending such a training program. Also, it was the only time I reached that time. But top athletes run that distance in less then five mins and usually 8-9mins goes for those who are in good or very good shape ... at a 1 mile distance.

Your time in the 6-7 minute range sounds good. Its just that 6:70 is not a time. One second after 6:59 it becomes 7:00. Does that make sense? So 70 seconds is really 1 minute and 10 seconds. The order would be 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 1:00, 1:01, 1:02, 1:03, 1:04, 1:05, 1:06, 1:07, 1:08, 1:09, 1:10 ...

I don't play any sports, and i don't normally run that fast either. I was just trying to show off that time.

You should maybe think about sports, running specifically. You would do really good.

I do run regularly actually usually about 3 miles a few days a week, just not part of a track or XC team. I tried a track team once and i didnt really enjoy it. Now I just run on my own and have done a few 5K's.

I think my fastest was 8 mins 4 seconds and I was really pushing it. It has been a while since we have ran a mile in school though
