What school punishments do you get? I usually get detention but sometimes i get lines. I was also put on report twice. I have also been put to stand at the wall a few times as well

I've never been in trouble at school. The punishments that people get depend on what they've done, so that could be going on report, detentions, community service etc etc. If people are really badly behaved they can be put in isolation. Some of the things they give punishments for are a bit ridiculous though in my opinion, for example a minor uniform infringement can lead to a detention.

I haven't been too deep in trouble (or at least not in high school... yet) but in middle school I've been sent down to the principals office or the counselors office.

In my school now, they do suspensions and detention and sometimes even expulsion. It doesn't usually go that far tho. A lot of times kids are sent to the dean or vp's office n get their home phoned, then they get suspended.

community service

We don't have community service at school here, is that like when criminals get sentenced to it? It sounds intriguing!

Isolation is only used if the student is really violent and out of control which i'm not. I've had a few fights but thats all.

Since last year our school got really strict with punishments. First time doing anything remotely wrong (not paying attention, etc) is a verbal warning. The next time is a removal to another classroom and an hour lunchtime detention stuck in a sweaty room listening to classical music with all the other year groups. You would be escorted beforehand so you couldn't skip. If you got more than 2 in a week (or caught with chewing gum) you would have a Friday afterschool detention until 5pm, so 1hr45mins. If you had gum you would be scraping the bottom of the tables for gum in detention instead of sitting there.

For some reason they also think minor uniform violations are like breaking the law and you would be put in "internal" (basically isolation) for a couple days for wearing trainers or nail polish, something along those pathetic lines. You would also get detention too and sometimes put on report if you did it multiple times. It's basically the same punishment as assaulting other kids or something along those lines so our punishment system is really messed up.

It's stuff like picking up litter at lunchtimes and helping teachers tidy up their classrooms etc etc.

Isolation can even be given for continued uniform infringements which is a little stupid but that's how it is.

Oh right we kinda have that too then, but they don't call it community service, its just known as litter duty. Basically walking around picking litter after school for 1 hour and yeah i've had it lol

We get detentions and suspensions. We can also be kicked off sports teams for bad grades and behavior. Community service is something really for the judicial system. I have about 1 year left of Community service and probation. I haven't been in trouble at all in the longest time. Not even in school

At my school last year they would phone or email your parents, give detention at lunch, or give you garbage duty depending on what you did. Sometimes if it was really bad you would have to spend the day in in-school suspension, but I've never had that. Next year I'll be at high school, so I'm not sure how they deal.

My school NEVER does punishments. If you go to a teacher with a bullying problem or something similar, they always say "I'll speak to them" which never works. And of course it was me who got thrown of the PE bus when defending myself, my school sucks. I also got an after school detention for walking out when I was getting bullied and the two bullies got NO punishment whatsoever! My school is FOR bullying.

I got in trouble a few times in elementary school and just got chewed out by the principal. I have never gotten in trouble in high school. The most common punishment is detention.

at our school we really have either detentions, suspensions, or, in the most extreme circumstances, expulsion

Ok so our punishment system has been revamped... now if you're late to class three times in a row you get detention. I still have one last chance or I'll be held back for an hour ew.

We don't really get punishments in school. If we misbehave we get a note to have it signed by a parent. My parents don't like it, I always get punished at home with the belt or cane for it.

I hate detention. If you forget your school ID too many times you get detention. Make you clean up litter and stuff.

This is the same at my school too. Since I go to a public school there is no expulsions. Suspensions are the most you can get. But, if your offense is totally serious (like fighting, bring a handgun or knife to school or any other violent act like hitting a teacher) you could get sent to an alternative school.

People have mentioned being punished for chewing gum. That is very stupid! Chewing gum relaxes you and helps you concentrate. I think some rules are made just for the power to make rules.

My school has a 5 level punishment system that starts with a warning and ends with Saturday detention. More serious things get suspended and expelled.

I'm at university where they basically don't care what you do. Most students are mature enough not to litter and do other crap, and if there is a student that does that anyway, other students tell him/her to stop being an ass.
As for not finishing your homework and assignments: teachers don't care. They simply teach their stuff and make everyone take a test at the end of the semester. If you fail because you're not studying: tough; your own fault and your own problem. I think that's a good thing, because once you have a "real" job, no-one will hold your hand either. You're expected to finish your work before the deadline; how and when you do it is your decision.
Mind you, I don't think this should apply to highschool yet.

What does this mean?

What is detention? Is that like being locked somewhere?

What are lines? Is that having to do some physical exercise?

Detention is when you have to stay after school for like an hour in a class room and basically do nothing except homework or read.

The most common punishments for our school are picking up rubbish, interschool suspension, lunchtime detention, being kicked off sport teams or a tracking (it goes towards a suspension or being expelled).

My school allowed teachers to give either lunch detention, saturday school, or after-hours detention at the discretion of the teacher/issuing party. They stopped the after-hours detention policy my senior year, meaning either lunch detention or Saturday school. When your grades drop below Cs the guidance counselors start making mandatory visits/check-ins. People who do more serious things get suspended and I know at least one stoner girl that didn't give a rats a** about school that got expelled.

I haven't been punished at school except on time in elementary school. Here's the story:
I forget what year it was but I think I was in 4th grade, this kid named Jesse who I am still really good friends with to this date decided to far as loud as he could, and then I made the stupid decision of stabbing him with a pencil in his left side, it made him bleed and that was the extent of my memory of him. I wasn't even suspended, just lunch detention. Also same school in second grade again I wasn't thinking, I called an African American girl named Abigail fat. I got pulled over to the side my by my teacher and that was enough punishment for me. That's the most I'e been punished at school at least I can tell you for 7 years. ;)

Sometimes I had this very weird punishment like go out of class if you're like bored and want to talk and get out of class.

Spanking is legal in my state, and sometimes the gym teacher who is the assigned disciplinarian at my school will spank someone. I've had it a few times in 9th grade, but more often back in middle school and elementary school.

They also send kids down to see the principal and if that happens you don't go back to class until the bell rings. Other punishments could be extra assignments, or having to do something like pick up trash from the athletic field.
