Three congressional Democrats have asked a psychiatrist at Yale School of Medicine to consult with them about forming an expert panel to offer the legislators advice on assessing President Trumpís mental health.

Yaleís Dr. Bandy Lee told STAT that over the last few weeks members of Congress or their staff have asked her to discuss how members might convene psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals ďto review the presidentís mental health, and review it on a periodic basis.Ē The closed meeting is expected to take place in September, she said.

The request came from three current congressmen and one former member, she said. She declined to name them, saying they told her they did not wish to be publicly identified yet.

The invitation comes as 27 representatives, all Democrats, have co-sponsored a bill to establish ďa commission on presidential capacity.Ē The commission would carry out a provision of the 25th Amendment, which gives Congress the authority to establish ďa bodyĒ with the power to declare a president ďunable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.Ē Under the bill, H.R. 1987, eight of the 11 members of the commission would be physicians, including four psychiatrists...

As much as I oppose the guy this is quite inappropriate and unbefitting of elected representatives within government. If they wanna get rid of him, explore actual legal means as opposed to going for mental health, which is quite offensive to those with actual mental issues.

haha, if we are going to look at trump's mental competency then we (US Citizens) also need to look at other elected officials on the national & state levels too.

on a day-day basis the state officials have more power over our lives than the president does

i figure the sign of any actual GOOD bill out of congress is when you can get both parties to have some interest. when a vote is 100% down party lines it says to me more than likely neither side is actually doing their job and voting for what their constituents may be after so the fact that this is purely one sided is just a waste of time in my opinion

now if someone wanted to use their OWN time & money and start researching US Presidents, Canadian Prime Ministers, ect... to see their mental health over the course of their tenure in office that could be interesting but we are talking a 20-40year compounding study that doesn't boot anyone from their position just a "hey here is what the position of POTUS can do to your mind vs if you were the president of Mexico"

We have this phenomenom in Europe. Its called political schizophrenia. Taken straight from Soviet Union. Soviet Union anyway is role model for EU and as I see for Democrats.

Sluggish schizophrenia i think was correct term.

It was for Socialist Yugoslavia before 1948 and the de-Stalinization.

Just supposed such a study comes to the conclusion that Trump mentally shouldn't be allowed even to tie his shoes ...

.. then in a second study would have to examine all Trump supporters and voters as well.

Or best we immediately place them under disability in general, so that they never ever can't vote for such Trump-guys again.

But perhaps it's much cheaper if the guys, who anonymously kickstart such studies, get kick assed out of the congress. And over all, at same time they should be excluded from their party as true un-democrats.

To people still denying that there is something wrong with Trump. I just want to point out he just found a way to make the flooding of a major city about him, but at least he didn't blame both sides.

'I'd just like to say that I personally know many of those winds. They are very lovely winds: 70 million of them were at my inaugeration, just ask Breitbart. Those terrible Texans (many of them illegal, yes it's true) they harmed those winds first. Check the tapes!' But in all seriousness, he's a narcisist, we already know that. Mentally unfit for office? Maybe not as much
