I'm waxing my truck today, and I'm just curious if anyone else here waxes their vehicle their self. I do, obviously, though I have an electric buffer which makes the application much easier.

I don't do it myself as I'm not enough to drive yet, but I know my dad waxes his car from time to time.

My dad never waxes his car, and I don't really see the point of it if you wash it

No, never. Run it through the car wash which applies wax. Between school and work I don't have the time. Also, I just don't have the desire to do it.

Well, wax isn't just for aesthetics. It primary use is for providing a layer of protection between the paint and outside sources, like sunlight and acid rain, plus provide some scratch protection. If you don't wax your car, eventually the sunlight will start to eat away at your paint, resulting in fading and eventual paint peeling. A waxed car can remain bright and shiny for years with minimal fading. Which is especially important for older vehicles which stay out in the sun all day, like my 2000 F-150.

I mean I have, but most of the time I'm too lazy/don't have time lol

Mom usually runs it through the car wash a lot easier, but probably not as effective.

Daddy does it and I help with the parts that I can reach...which isn't much on his truck. He says it helps with the snow and salt in the winter b/c road salt is very sticky.

I've manually waxed my car twice before with the stuff my dad has but I'm hoping to get one of the machine ones soon

My Land Rover Defender has a nano-infused chip-repelling paintwork which retains its high gloss so it never needs polishing. Washing, yes. It gets plenty muddy! XD

I don't drive yet. But I have helped my dad wash and wax his truck and also washed and waxed mom's SUV.
