View Full Version : Hope this belongs here: what can I do to help?

My sister just swallowed a bottle of ibuprofen on Thursday after a fight with her friend. She went to the hospital and she's fine. And she's at the mental hospital, the same one I've been to three times and found torturous.

Also, yesterday a good internet friend of mine was upset with her relationship so she drank wine. She's barely 14 and seeing her drunk was really sad.

My question is: what can I do to help someone who has overdosed or is thinking of it?

I take many meds and I've already locked them up but what can I do to change their mindsets? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly, theres not much you can do besides be there for them and insist they get professional help for their problems. As with anything, people need to be willing to want to help themselves first. You can't force someone into going to rehab or getting help for their issues.

If someone has already overdosed in the past, again, just be there for them and insist that going down the path their going, and taking drugs ain't going to help them and isn't going to solve their problems.

Try to keep them in positivity and shower them with good vibes.

Just talk to them and be supportive. Try to find out what is bothering that person and try to give them good advice, or just an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on.

Talk to them and be firm and strong. Try to convince them that life has it's ups and downs but all in all life is what you make of it and yourself. If they are really bad try get them to get professional help or have their family intervene. Most important just be there and be a friend.
