I don't know if anyone else has gone through
this but today I lost my pet cat. I had him since
I was 5 and even tho he was sick I realize that
he is out of his misery. The thing is I held him
as he yelled out and took his last breath. I saw
the light go out in his eyes. Even my dog knows
that something is not right and is moving from
one room to the next looking for his buddy. It is
something that in a split second life could leave
the body and its difficult whether it is a pet or a
family member. I don't want any sympathy I just
want to get this off my mind.

Yeah I understand. I experienced the same with my pet rabbit. Holding her in her last moments.
My cat was taken to the vet by my Dad since he didn't want me to see it being put to sleep.
But well one other the two cats I have now is very ill. It's just a matter of time now till I have to experience this again.

So I completely understand what you are talking about.

I lost my cat a couple months ago. Was really sudden... walking home, saw her on the road, she got hit by a car trying to get across the street. Asshole left a note just saying "sorry, hit your cat" on the front door. It's gonna hurt n be weird for a while... but I recommend just remembering how he had a good, loving family and a peaceful life (:

I had a dog that died back in 2015 and she was only about 10 so we were all surprised. She died while everyone was out of the house and looking back on it we could tell in the morning that something was wrong with her as she was really irritable and kept lying in front of the door so we couldn't leave. We were all really upset but I guess that's just how the circle of life goes. I'd maybe like to imagine she's happy if there's life after death.

I understand your frustration & feelings of loss of the death of your cat. It is heartbreaking to actually see the transition from life to death. I had a similar situation with a 14yr old dog, my best friend, & I immediately learned, as a 11 yr old, how it feels to be powerless.

At some point, perhaps you can feel differently about it. He was obviously in pain, but when he passed away, he was being held by the person that he loved the most, & that had to provide some comfort to him.

I have always been a pet lover, to the point of trying to provide CPR to my hamster when I was 9. Pets offer love without judgement.

oh I am so sorry man :(. I had my cat for about 10 years now. I hate to think of the day when I will have to say good bye to her. she is absolutely one of my best friends and means so much to me. it is something terrible to go through. but, for 12 wonderful years, you and your family gave your cat the best life she could have and that is something pretty special. and she gave a lot to you. hang in there bud, it is tough.

That sucks man. I know how you feel. I've lost pets to. It's like losing a best friend. I think we feel more sad cause we feel like they didn't deserve this. They never did anything wrong. And don't feel right.

Sad thing is, loss is huge in life. Whether it's a cat, dog, different pet or family member. It's still hard. And we still grieve for them.

Good luck bro

Thanks-Its been a week now and I still think
bout it but the one who is really hurting is my
dog. He keeps looking for his buddy and goes
about whimpering from room to room. Its sad
in itself that an animal can hurt just as much as
a human maybe more. U know there r stories of
pets grieving over the deaths of their owners.
A lot of people should learn from the antics of
their pets and animals in general.

Exactly, it's true, they were probably better friends than your fam realized.

While I was away at college this year, one of my cats was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that spread to his brain. I had seen him two weeks prior to the diagnosis and he seemed completely fine. Then, that week he was diagnosed he lost a ton of weight and started having seizures and lost control of all his body functions. He died 3 days later. He went from being completely fine and healthy to being dead in a matter of two weeks and 3 days. I still cannot believe this happened because I never noticed a thing wrong. One of my other cats was his brother and he walks around the house multiple times every day just crying for his brother. Now, he never leaves your side if you are home and is constantly meowing and asking to be rubbed or to sit on you. It is the saddest thing ever.
