View Full Version : Political Compass Survey 2.0

About two years ago there was a survey in ROTW in regards to where you fall on the political compass. Here is a graph of the 2015 survey:

https://www.politicalcompass.org/charts/crowdchart?Atom=-1.24%2C-5.78&Katie96xox=8.88%2C5.96&Stronk+Serb=-3.12%2C3.9&Luminous=-1.12%2C-2.41&Hollywood=-5.12%2C-3.49&Satan=-4.57%2C-5.33&Capto=-6.12%2C-4.56&sunnieseason=5.5%2C-6.0&transylvanian=0.0%2C-2.97&WaffleSingSong=2.25%2C-7.59&SoS=-4.5%2C-7.13&Oakheart=-1.25%2C-3.03&Melkor=-7.75%2C-6.51&Abyssal+Echo=-2.62%2C-1.54&AisleOfPlenty=2.75%2C-4.67&Alluring=-1.25%2C-4.26&ImCoolBeans=-5.62%2C-5.23&phuckphace=-5.38%2C4.67&lyhom=-3.62%2C-4.62&tasminsmith=0.5%2C3.8&World+Eater=-6.25%2C-5.49&Rick+Mason=-8.5%2C-7.69&Typhlosion=1.0%2C-2.51&Emerald+Dream=-3.75%2C-3.54&Dennis98=0.25%2C6.82&Horatio+Nelson=-1.75%2C0.36&Broken+Pen=-3.25%2C-1.69&Vlerchan=-0.25%2C-6.76&name=Paraxiom&ec=-7.63&soc=-9.28
I just wanna see how the current crowd would put on this graph, and whether we have seen some sort of shift in VT politics since 2015. I'll link the quiz down below, and once you get your results just post them down below. After a week or two, I'll make a graph like the one above so we can see how we all compare.

I have to thank you for showing how I was about 2 years ago:

Economic Left/Right: ≈ -7.70
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: ≈ -9.30

Things have changed, which I already knew about, just not through this way in particular.

Economic Left/Right: -7.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.72

Sharply gone less libertarian and slightly gone less Left.

Edit#1: I'm an decadent socialist it seems.
Edit#2: Turns out editing a post negates any likes given to it before (which makes sense thinking on it). PlasmaHam you have my thoughts.

If you haven't yet posted, I really encourage you to do such. This isn't some hard quiz I'm posting. Almost everyone has the ability to easily complete it, even if you think you don't know politics. For the sake of getting a good graph of how VT stands on the political compass, I need as many people as possible to post.

I'll post an updated version of this graph in a few days, hopefully there are more posts then.

I am honestly not surprised about that. While you may be rather liberal when it comes to immigration and the environment, on most other issues like personal liberties and foreign policy you take a much more centered or even occasionally a conservative approach.

Too bad most electoral systems currently used prevent governments from being representative of that I doubt the governments would be representative of this, since 90% of the people taking this poll can't even vote, never mind hold public office. :P

Please keep your bemoaning off this thread, okay?

It is an important issue and that 90% is currently affected by it and even more when they get to vote. That comment is not different then when others ask what party they like or asking who they support between a conservative woman and a mentally unstable pussy grabber.

I agree this might not be the best place to talk about it this is why I created this thread I invite you to check out. :)

I'm having a dull evening, so I decided to update the poll for the new posters.
https://www.politicalcompass.org/charts/crowdchart?The+Special+One=0.38%2C0.41&Amethyst+Rose=-4.13%2C-3.38&Falcons_11=0.0%2C0.0&Porpoise101=-0.8%2C-1.8&Devinsoccer=5.45%2C0.9&Jinglebottom=-1.75%2C-0.92&davdev17=-9.25%2C-8.26&BlackParadePixie=2.0%2C-1.9&The+Byrd=7.0%2C4.87&lliam=-5.25%2C-4.97&Mars=-7.13%2C-5.08&Matryoshkasystem=-3.38%2C-1.44&Genegerbread=1.75%2C-0.31&refrigeratorx=-5.63%2C-6.92&ShineInTheDark=-5.58%2C-3.79&Paraxiom=-7.38%2C-4.72&mattsmith48=-6.25%2C-7.74&Endeavour=-2.25%2C-1.13&PlasmaHam=5.88%2C2.31&name=ethan-s&ec=4.3&soc=1.9

Interestingly, in this updated poll we are seeing a more balanced split between Left and Right than in the last one, and we are seeing more centrists appear.

The poll here is still running if you haven't posted yet. I'll probably do the final update one week from today, which will be more intensive than the prior updates. Please still post if you haven't.

All blue marks indicate points from the 2015 survey, all red marks indicate points from the 2017 survey. The different shapes are irrelevant, this was the only way this site I used would of graphed so many same-colored points. If anyone knows a nice scatter graph maker website, feel free to tell me.

It's interesting that there is a sharp decrease of libertarian right-wing posters since 2015. I wonder if that demographic has shifted left over the last two years. And the opposite seems to be occurring when it comes to the authoritarian left. Across the board, there seems to be a slight shift towards authoritarianism. Of course, this is all speculation. If you have a better theory on some of these changes, please tell.

Just wondering, what do you define as centrist? Is it those who are in the honest, hard working arayans? Or is it those only very cloe to the center? Also the change could be due to the fact we are seing the migration of gen y or millenials-whichever one you call it-, and the arrival of the gen Z. Which despite similarities is starkly diffrent.

Porpoise101
May 24th, 2017, 09:06 PM
Of course, this is all speculation. If you have a better theory on some of these changes, please tell. And tell I shall. If you refer to the 2015 graph, you see a wider variety of opinions. You have people that qualify for every quadrant. Of course, the posters in top left are a little exceptional because honestly I would not call Stronk Serb and phuckphace leftists in the slightest. Discounting them, You see a greater consolidation of rightists becoming more authoritarian in 2017. But even if you count these two exceptional posters, the left has become more staunchly anti-authoritarian from 2015 to today. Social control is a no-go. I would say that the fact that it is much easier to find a correlation today (a line is very visible) is a sign of the continuing polarization and homogenization of politics. There are more people toeing party lines than those subscribing to older political ideas like Leninism or even neoconservatism. If this is true, then it is a little disheartening.

Vlerchan
May 26th, 2017, 05:15 PM
Stronk Serb was actually an Authoritarian Marxist back in those days if I remember correct - he was a commie before he went full ethnonationalist. Phuckphace used to support a full command economy back then too - and was basically a national Bolshevik / Third-positionist - so him ending up on the authoritarian left isn't much of a surprise to me. But yeah that sort of Left doesn't exist anymore (I know some people who ascribe to it and curse Khrushchev as a filthy revisionist but they're increasingly rare).

Anyways I couldn't resist contributing this since it was always an aim of mine to adequately map the positions of this community back when I was active: here's mine, somehow I am more libertarian.

Alright I think I speak for everyone when I say this but Vlerchan you'd better get into that neat little trend line we've got going here. Start advocating for theocracy, ethnostates, or traditional gender roles and I'm sure that you will fit in just right.

Honestly, this graph kind of makes me upset and it makes it seem as if people just have the same one or two opinions watered down to different degrees. I know that people have their own unique passions and nuanced beliefs that aren't easily captured on this test, but I still cannot shake this feeling. It almost makes me want to go full -10, 10 Stalinist mode and advocate for Correct Thought just to add some variety. However, I have my own principles to uphold so that comes first of course.
