View Full Version : When did you get your license?

May 5th, 2017, 01:33 AM
Hey guys, just a simple question on when most of you got your license. I personally don't have a proper license and don't drive and I'm 19. So when did you guys start driving and how did you find it learning to drive?

i dont have licenses but drive my friends motorcycle sometimes

I got mine at 16. it is not a big deal though not to have it. I still take public transportation sometimes or ride my bike. If I lived in an even bigger city like Chicago, I might not even have a car/license at all.

I already have driver license now, and about my first time is when I was early 16 for motorcycle limited license.

Turning 22 soon and still don't have mine. I lived in a huge city for 18 years which made public transit just easier because there was never parking anywhere. Nowadays I'm just too anxious to learn although I did learn how to drive stick as a teenager.

The age that people get their license really depends on where they live. In my case, getting a license to drive was more of a necessity rather than a want since I live in a small town and need to get myself to school and what not. I started driver ed classes my senior year of high school at 17 and took my road test just after I turned 18 about 6 months ago. Driving really is not a hard thing to do once you get enough practice. I recommend that you take both drivers ed classes (at least in my case), which they do offer for adults, since they are a great help to teach you the rules of the road and safety maneuvers. The teachers also let you drive on the road with them in the car further helping you learn. This also gets all of the paper testing out of the way instead of taking them at the DMV office. When you get your permit, drive with a parent that is calmer than the other so you can learn easier.

March 2013 (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showpost.php?p=2166992&postcount=369) - I got my license when I was 17 :)

Got mine right on my 16th birthday. Where I live, public transport and walking are not feasible options, so if I wanted to get anywhere on my own I would have to drive. I personally love driving, and wouldn't want to give it up.

Got mine when I was 16. Been 6 months and hoping to get my provisional restrictions off soon. It was about a six month process with my permit before that.

Currently in the process of getting my license. I'm taking my time with it since I won't be allowed to drive without my parents before I turn 18 in August anyway.

I got mine a week after my 16th birthday. I failed the test the first time on my birthday.

May 18th, 2017, 03:51 AM
At 17 years and 3 months for my driving license, 18 years for my pilot license.

If all goes well April 16, 2018

it depens on what country, what city your are as they all have restrictions here in the philippines you're allowed to have a non-professional license in about the age of 16-17 years old

Beginning of January 2013. God, can't believe it's been over 4 years and no one's died yet. So 17. Getting my permit was a whimsical decision that I just decided in the car one day, and everything flew from there.

I passed the test a couple weeks ago and got my actual license today. I'm 18.

I got mine about half a year ago.
I occassionally drive my dad's car or cars of friends, but I don't have one myself.
It's simply too expensive for me to own one. I use my bicycle almost every day, as everything I need to do is within a 5 mile radius, in my home city. Sometimes I use public transport, which is pretty good here.
All in all, I don't need a car, but I like that I have my license :)

I got mine two months after I turned 16.

Got mine a couple weeks after my 17th birthday.

May 26th, 2017, 04:31 AM
I got mine just before I turned 20.
It can be pratical to have a car when at the countryside.
But when you live in a town it is rather useless and anyhow you have no room for it.

I honestly taught myself how to drive. I got my license just like one or two days before I turned 20

May 29th, 2017, 04:40 PM
Day I turned 16. Got it at 10 AM, didn't come home until like 1 AM. Went and picked two friends up and we tore some dirt roads up and chilled all day. I no lie put about 1,000 miles on my F250 in about two to two and a half days.

Being a southern farm kid I got my license at 14 with distance and daytime restrictions. I'm allowed to drive any type of truck or farm use vehicle..but I could get in trouble if driving a regular car. If I have no issues the restrictions lift when I turn 16

Got my learner's license at 16, haven't used it much though.

It differs between the Australian states, but the youngest age at which one can drive is 16 years and 6 months (in the Northern Territory) and pretty much 17 years in most of the other states (Victoria restricts this to 18 years). I got my license when I was 17, but still mainly used public transport to get to university, or social gatherings; as our family car was often used by my parents or siblings.

I'm applying for my learners permit in 7 weeks, yes! So I'll be able to get my license next April.

June 15th, 2017, 06:04 PM
I got mine a year ago (almost), at 16.

June 15th, 2017, 10:48 PM
I have my permit and getting my license in December/January. Learning to drive is really easy or really hard depending on easiness of vehicle and the roads you will be driving on. I found it hard because where I live, we take one highway to get everywhere and there's so many accidents it made me nervous but I got used to it

June 22nd, 2017, 04:30 AM
I got my permit at 15 1/2 and license at 16 and a few months.

I love driving and I always knew I'd love driving as a kid so I really liked the process. There were some stupid things they make you do as a learner that I've fallen out of practice of, but I still like driving.

I passed my driver's test last month on my 18th birthday. In the UK here I'm White Van Woman. At home in Spain I have an old and dented Land Rover Defender. Other drivers give me a wide berth. :P

January 16th, 2018, 01:51 PM
I'd like to say two summers ago.

January 19th, 2018, 07:30 PM
16, but I don't have a car

March 26th, 2018, 04:40 AM
I can safely say I'm learning to drive now and it's a bit stressful, lol. I'm doing well with it but it's a manual so it's a little more to get used to.

March 29th, 2018, 04:05 AM
I only learned to drive when I was 18. My two biggest challenges were not using both feet (left for brake, right for gas) and remebering which pedal is which. lol. Surprisingly I've never been in an accident.
