I'm 13 and never been to the gyno as I'm not sexually active and no plans anytime soon. I heard some girls talking at school saying they use birth control to regulate their periods. I'm not sexually active and my periods are regular, is there any other reason I should see a doctor and if so what age should I see see one?

I'm not sexually active yet and was wondering is there any other reason why I should see a gyno doctor?

If you're not sexually active and there's nothing wrong with you, there's really no point in having a gyno exam.

Very true. It's not something I'd seek out.

Im still a virgin and Im happy my periods are not regular as I get to have one every 2 or 3 months or so... however I caught a very bad kidney infections two months ago and was referred to a gyno "just to be sure"... I was told that other than that I was healthy and unless I start having sex I could wait 2 years until next time and I might do just that...

She is 100% right..when one is having regular periods and seXually not active what wrong would happen to her genitals..and what is the necessity to see a gyno Doc?

Reason why I visit gyno was that I lost my virginity. I was 15 yo.
I think that is normal go to preventive gyno visit when you has your first sex.

You should see a gyno doctor if you have complications or have had sex. Other than that you should see your regular doctor.

Thanks to all that replied to my posts as it was helpful. I do see my family doctor on a regularly. I have asked mom and said no since I have no problems and not sexually active but wanted a second opinion.

Yeah... For some it's a walk in the park and for others it's a dreadful experience... So unless you've got a reason to go, don't...

My mom took me last fall because I'm 14 and no pubic hair, no breasts and no period or other signs of puberty.

he gave your hormone pills?

I have delayed puberty due to low body fat. Dr. suggested we wait a while before starting hormones.

I guess it's different where I live, but here in Canada people don't go to a gynaecologist unless you have a problem that your regular doctor can't help you with.
A Gyn is considered a "specialist ".

Mom wanted to make sure we all knew what was going to happen. It is nothing to be scared of.
