Let's share some music from all around the world - folk or local music, in general - music that is not popular in mainstream, but is popular in a country ot local area. Let's discover new rhythms and explore new dimensions of music. :metal:

Music I've discovered recently is Chinese Opera - it sounds totally different than "western" opera. Those instruments and tonal language make it totally new experience:

This is a nice post :D
Anyways in my country cumbia is pretty popular but I think Its pretty mainstream, other that that.. Andina music is pretty popular too. It consists of a bunch of air instruments such as: Zampoņas, Quenas, Toyos and Tarkas,,, also has some stringed instruments such as the guitar, charango, and roncoco,,, for percussion, there's these bass drums. That's pretty much it. Some favorite bands in this genre are Los Kjarkas, Grupo Andino Semilla and Savia Andina.

Gwerzy by the Irish band Kila is a really good piece of lively "folk music". I think you'll like that one.

as for Music from Germany it's Seeed or the music of Peter Fox. it isn't really folk or dance music, but apart Medieval Folk/Rock Music from the 1970s til today, imo the best music ever made in 'schland.

or the music of Fettes Brot
