Hey VT, I was told from my dad that I'm not allowed to go to a high school in a different ZIP code of my residence. I think that is false. The high school I plan to attend is about 7 minutes away (2.2mi) and is a different zip code.

Thanks

You can go to any [city] public school that gets funding from the taxes that your dad pays.

So if your dad pays taxes for San Jose, CA (I'm guessing)then you can go to any public school that gets funding from San Jose taxes. Saratoga (A neighboring city) may have the same zipcode but different tax... Get it?

*This is how it is for NY at least but you can just ask a teacher at your current school for confirmation

Yeah, as far as I know, you're allowed to go to any school within reasonable distance. The law might be different where you are though, so you should look into that.

You have to pay taxes in that district if it's a public school.

I don't know what the law is where you live but where I live I had the choice of going to either of the school school districts close to me they're in two different zip codes.
