I just got my first puppy today- a black lab named Tilly. Just wondering are there any tips for having a new dog?

pictures of the puppy!

anyway lots of time and patience and make sure you start training good behaviors early on. a puppy is going to get into trouble regardless, but if you want it to behave later on, it is much easier to train it when it is younger.

try to keep things it can get into out of reach you wouldn't want ruined obviously.

Never had a puppy... I think only once when I was six I think.

But yeah, give it attention and the time to play with it. Did you know that police officers who train canines reward those canines by playing with them? That actually makes a good bond.

Positive reinforcement. All dogs want to please their owner, so always praise them when the do good. But also, different praise. Petting them and showing affection and love is one, but bribery also works, dogs are motivated by food. Most keep some treats in your pocket. Once they know the deal, they'll to anything for what's in that pocket!!
